The Dow may reach a record close today or Monday, but here's the truth....
..... as posted a few days ago when it first tickled the vaunted 'record:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2851019">Hoiw Now Brown Dow

Here's the fact, folks. In the entirety of Mr. Business' reign, the Dow has moved an aggregate of 100 points. That's it.

They'll crow about it, but what they ought to be doing is eating crow. So when your Republic brother in law trumpets this new record, slap him down with the REALITY.

300% gain over Clinton's term.

0.01% gain over Il Dunce's reign.

1. IMPORTANT point - it has taken SIX YEARS for the Dow to get back to where
it was.

4. Yeppers - it started declining when it began to look like Chimpyshit might
win the election (which of course, he didn't, but...)

3. Absolutely!
I agree there was a bubble toward the end of Big Dawg's term, but the bursting would not have been NEARLY as bad under a President Gore.

5. That's not all....
CNBC analysts talking about it yesterday(?) were saying that if you stack the Dow up against european currencies, we're over 30% BEHIND in absolute value, so this "new high" means less than nothing. Take 30% off the top and that will give you the Dow's real value on the world market.

6. The damage to the economy, stock markets, capital markets, value of $,
standard of living, fiscal integrity of the Federal government, military, civil service system, neglected infrastructure, environment, rule of law, international law, treaties, goodwill, and friendships and partnerships, is inestimable, but probably in the tens of trillions of dollars, not to mention the human deaths and suffering. Only a miracle will restore this nation to its pre-existing place in the world during the lives of my children should they live out their present life expectancies. But these are but such small prices to pay to have a man of God, inspired and guided daily by God Almighty himself, deliver to the people of this once Republic an extreme RW PNAC agenda of perpetual war and a corporatist, theological totalitarian police state-type where all our eggs are put in the basket of one man. Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty I am free at last.
