Bush on Democrats: 'They will raise your taxes'

Bush on Democrats: 'They will raise your taxes'

Sep 21, 2006 — By Tabassum Zakaria

TAMPA, Florida (Reuters) - President George W. Bush charged on Thursday that Democrats would raise taxes if put in control of the U.S. Congress, turning to a familiar campaign theme as he seeks to stave off Republican losses in November.

"If they get control of the House of Representatives, they'll raise your taxes. It'll hurt our economy. And that's why we're not going to let them get control of the House of Representatives," Bush said.

The president's blast was new language for the final seven weeks of the campaign ahead before the November 7 elections and aides said he plans extensive travel to try to help Republicans.

Why would anyone think it's okay to give the Torturer-in-Chief a break?

2. They might raise your taxes Chimpo but not the working man's.
The only people who received the cuts are the rich anyway. Bring em back up to where they were or make them even higher for those in the upper brackets.

economy for the majority of Americans is crap under these neo-Cons. The only economy that Dems might "hurt" is that of the rich and big corporations who have been getting all the breaks at the cost of the middle class, poor, disabled and seniors.

BuSh*Co lives in his own little world not the one most of the rest of us live in. If there is any justice in the Universe soon he'll be living in his own little world in his own little padded cell in a nice "friendly" institution along with other criminal sociopaths.

4. Well, he might have been telling the truth
. . . if he was speaking at a GOP fundraiser to an audience of haves and have-mores.

20. That's true. It was probably one of his $1000 a plate dinners
so, most likely, we do want to raise the taxes of the people he was speaking to.

Oh really? Even if the clear majority want Democrats to run Congress? How do you plan to 'not let us get control'? Steal another election?

8. Reagan Republicans have raised our taxes..
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 04:19 PM by flaminbats
if not for the deficits accumulated since the Reagan and Bush years, federal spending on interest would be $300 billion dollars less every year and the federal budget would be balanced...even if we kept Bush's precious taxcuts! Without those taxcuts, we would have surpluses every year.

10. Just once could a Republican explain how the government
operates without money? Apparently that's the goal. Of course Democrats will probably have to raise taxes to repair the spectacular mess King George has made of things.

11. Free Democratic response, courtesy of gratuitous
President Bush has said that Democrats will raise your taxes. Perhaps he said that while speaking to his base: The haves and the have-mores, a segment of our society that has been completely insulated from making any sacrifice whatsoever in Mr. Bush's so-called war on terror.

Things will definitely be different with Democrats in control of the House. Mr. Bush is right about that. Because instead of folks like you and me giving the fatcats a free ride, we'll have them pulling the wagon, and paying for a responsible government, a responsible economic policy, and a responsible budget that doesn't run on irresponsible record Republican deficits!

"...And that's why we're not going to let them get control of the House of Representatives," Bush said.

Indeed. I'm sure you and Diebold will see to that.

15. Yes, Democrats do need to raise taxes
to pay for Bush's unnecessary war in Iraq and all the giveaways to the wealthy, all adding to the worst deficits in our history. When raising taxes to pay down some of this huge debt, let's be SURE that the wealthy who have benefited from Bush' largess are the ones who get hit the most!

Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 06:31 PM by FormerRushFan
Unless you know an area where property taxes are going down?

Fed provides less to states and localities, the difference has to be made up somewhere.

College tutition, lack of medical research - we're paying LOTS more...

Here in NJ, SALES tax is up to 7%.

That's right idiots, Republicans LOWER taxes...

edit: always changing my mind!

19. 20% of our budget goes to interest payments
We need to hammer that. What a waste! WHAT A WASTE! This is welfare to China, Saudi Arabia and France brought to you by Bushco and the republican congress. Enough VooDoo economics. It's not working. All you have to look at is the budget to know that. Let's get that 400 billion+ working for us instead of working for foreign investors. If we have to raise taxes to do that, it will be well worth it in the end. Anything you want to bitch about as far as wasting money is peanuts next to this.
