Alright, 12 weeks to go.. HOW ARE YOU HELPING DEMOCRATS win in 2006?
There are no excuses for inaction; you are either PART OF THE PROBLEM or you are PART OF THE SOLUTION. It is up to us to help Democrats win back Congress and state and local offices.

I have done the following:

  • Voted in Tuesday's primary;
  • Became a precinct delegate;
  • Donated to the Michigan Democratic Party and Granholm for Governor;
  • Wrote a couple letters to the editor;
  • Signed up to volunteer on a couple campaigns; and
  • Blogged on a couple Michigan-related blogs.

I plan to do the following (and more) in the remaining 87 days:

  • Write more letters to the editor;
  • Donate to WesPAC and/or the Progressive Patriots Fund;
  • Get a yard sign;
  • Encouage friends and relatives to vote; and more.

What about you?

2. Yesterday, I broke and agreed to phone bank for all locals up for re-
election. I do this at no small personal risk to myself and my sanity, by the by, as our local community is full of slimy, ignorant, elistist, misogynist populists who think their anger entitles them to effect their sick, ineffectual twisted version of a solution to the coming crisis. Also, they're largely unstable alcoholics. I also register voters and made all of my relatives vote Democratic.

All y'all as yet uninvolved? Sack up. This isn't grade school and if you sit it out, your team losing this "recess" means you may very well NEVER GET TO GO BACK INSIDE THE SCHOOL. If I can do it, you can do it.

8. Just posting on DU
Every post on DU gives one cent to the DCCC, right? Right? Are you trying to tell me that I need to get off my ass to help Democrats? Get off of DU? Man, I don't know if I can do that!

:sarcasm:

9. Running a state House campaign
Anyone interested in helping Dems take back the state House in Michigan can click on the link in my sig-line and donate to my candidate. Of course we're up against a well funded opponent (by PACs of course) so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from that, I too voted in primary and became a precinct delegate. :toast:

I'll be running the 4th District caucus at MDP convention, come on by! :hi:

12. Here's what I'm doing...
1) posting here, first of all, and supporting this place and its people in one way or another
2) speaking out as much as possible
3) keeping my children educated (and, as many friends and acquaintances as will listen)
4) contributing where I can - to the DNC "50-State Strategy" people who I've seen in action
5) voting! I WILL be there!
6) complaining via phone, fax, snail/email when some media person or rep is being stupid
7) calling my reps (and other people's reps) to make my opinions heard (see TOLL FREE numbers below)
8) sharing those TOLL FREE numbers as much as possible - check my sig line
9) visualizing IMPEACHMENT, and doing what I can to back that with action
10) writing, and spreading around, stuff like the following:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2779645

And MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL:
11) as DUer Class Warrior would say - NGU - NEVER GIVE UP!!! Howard Dean has already said that this is the only way we lose - if we give up. So I will NOT.

13. I'm voting for some.
I'm not quite so black and white; I don't really have too many "either/ors."

I'm doing many other things to be part of the solution to modern problems, most of them involving lifestyle changes. I don't really see helping Democrats win as THE solution to our myriad problems, but as one part of some possible solutions. So I'm voting for some.

I voted for Susan Castillo for State Superintendent of Public Ed this spring, even though I don't like her agenda for my profession. There was no better choice. I did not sign Ben Westlund's petition as an independent so that I could vote for my choice in the Democratic Primary this spring. My choice didn't win. I'll still be voting for the Democrat to unseat Greg Walden in Oregon's 2nd district. This is the race I'll put my time and energy into, although Voisin is considered a "longshot" in this red district.

I'll probably vote to keep Kulongoski in the governor's office as well, although I'm not a fan.
