"I've made no bones about it the last two years," (U.S. Rep. Jo Ann) Davis (VA-R) told members of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers on Thursday. "He's probably a nice guy, but I don't think he's a great secretary of defense."
Later she amended her "nice guy" assessment by saying Rumsfeld had come across as arrogant in her dealings with him, which stretch back to committee work during her freshman term in Congress, in 2001.

Davis said she still supports the U.S. involvement in the war in Iraq because of "the intelligence we've picked up over there that's protected us here," but she is having second thoughts about American troops being there in the first place.
Huh? Does that make sense to anyone?
It's hard for me, especially being one who voted for (the war), when I go and visit a young soldier or airman or Marine and they've been lamed for life by the war," she told the ASMC.
"I feel a little guilt there because I voted for the war. ... It makes you feel like, 'My vote caused this.' ... But I still believe it was the right decision at the time."
...
Davis eagerly anticipates bringing U.S. troops back from Iraq. "I'm not for putting permanent bases there," she said. "As soon as we get enough (Iraqis) trained to take over their country, bring our babies home."
