They are scared ****-less
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 05:14 PM by LiberalEsto
At first I thought the Rovian responses to the Lamont victory (More terra!) were overkill.

But the more I thought, the more I realized they are desperate.

The reason the Misadministration is desperately and pathetically trying to associate Ned Lamont with "terra, terra, terra" is simple.

They are scared our of what wits, if any, they have. Terrified.

If Lamont's primary win in Connecticut translates into a Democratic takeover of Congress in November, this is what it could mean to the B*sh Misadministration and its cronies:

Investigations

Subpoenas

Special prosecutors

Articles of impeachment

Possible impeachment

The Hague -- international war crimes trials?

Prison?

Possible treason charges against some individuals?

Lawsuits against Halliburton/KBR and other favored military contractors for massive fraud and cost overruns

Windfall profits taxes for Big Oil

Restored environmental, worker and consumer protections

Restoration of the estate tax

New laws against domestic spying

An end to the military misadventures in the Middle East.

And those are just what came off the top of my head. There will be many more potential consequences to these people who played fast and loose with our trust, our security, our economy, our savings, our freedoms, our Constitution, our tax dollars and much more.

Smells like B*shite fear! :scared:

3. I think you just listed the things that could be the beginning of the
restoration of America. What a wonderful thing THAT would be!

Oh, and I would add that we should address the issue of having one party in control of everything - Executive Branch, Legislative, and Judiciary. We all know all too well now that doesn't work very well.

We shouldn't count our chickens just yet. The National Security/Terra RePuke strategy is probably still effective in many areas of the country.

And

is having about the same effect on the Misadministration that interrupting a bloody meal after a kill would have on a hungry pit bull.

The thing I really fear at this point is not psuedo-terror alerts but what ugly things our "leaders" will do to keep us under their control.

that almost never, ever happens, 1 was a moderate Republican from Michigan endorsed by McCain
and Bush, 1 was a democratic senator, long term who went in with a 60% approval rating (Lieberman) and then there was McKinney from GA, Now we have 3 incumbents losing all at once,
they are scared, not only could they lose the majority, but there could be all new faces with
new agendas.

19. This is what I've been saying -- they won't go quietly
These guys have far too much to lose, and are in serious jeopardy of their ill-gotten goods, their liberty and maybe even their lives when their criminality over the last six years comes out. They aren't going to go quietly, and they aren't going to go without trying to take quite a few people with them.

We're going to have to go Terminator on them -- relentless and remorseless. They'll try fear, they'll try anger, they'll try violence, they'll try anything and everything to keep their blood-soaked hands on the levers of power for just another year, month, day, second. We will probably have to do the equivalent of breaking their fingers one by one with a ball peen hammer to get our country back. They're going to make us question whether it's all worth it, and they're going to make it as distasteful and loathesome a job as possible. They'll even be reduced to shitting and pissing their own pants if they think it will turn us away in disgust, even for a moment.

But through these bitter waters, we will once again pass to the sweet. Believe it.

27. BTW, did Lieberman have anything to say about it?
Actually he did:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/10/washington/10cnd-lieberman.html?ex=1155355200&en=f41d1303f86a68ef&ei=5087%0A

Joe-nertia: “If we just pick up like Ned Lamont wants us to do, get out by a date certain, it will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England,” Mr. Lieberman said at a campaign event at lunchtime in Waterbury, Conn. “It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”

"'Wow,' Mr. Lamont said, after asking a reporter to read Mr. Lieberman’s remark about him. 'That comment sounds an awful lot like Vice President Cheney’s comment on Wednesday. Both of them believe our invasion of Iraq has a lot to do with 9/11. That’s a false premise.'"

"Dick Cheney, in an interview with reporters on Wednesday, lamented Mr. Lieberman’s loss in the primary and said that Al Qaeda and other terrorists were counting on Americans to adopt a weaker military posture, and that the victory of Mr. Lamont over Mr. Lieberman indicated that “the dominant view of the Democratic Party” favored that weaker approach."

================

So there you have it, Lieberman is barely to the left of Dick Cheney and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt. He'll end up a Faux anchor in the end. Mark my words.

Imagine, what had been the Democrats' safest seat is now actually within reach of the Republicans...and the Democratic candidate is a bobo who posed with Al Sharpton for his "victory speech" after his campaign used a racist caricature during the primary.

There's a reason Al Sharpton's 2004 campaign manager was a GOP operative. Can anyone guess what that reason was?

38. I disagree
The GOP knows its constituents - hell, its supporters have paid billions into indoctrinating them. They know that TO THIS DAY 50% of Americans believe that wmd's were found in Iraq.

So is Rove afraid? I think that he's rubbing his hands with glee.

Just last week the GOP's midterm strategy calendar was leaked and "national security" loomed large. They'll play the card to the hilt and the idea of a split DNC is music to Rove's ears.

I could care less. It's about time our party becomes a real opposition to the GOP. And it's time that a REAL debate on national security takes place, disabusing the 50% of their errors and doing it on the GOP's dime.

I am not too sanguine that the DNC's revised triangulations will add up to a change in policy however.

I have faith that an informed American electorate will do the right thing, but jeez..any new congressional class will have soo much to do to change back the laws and policies that have been changed. Databases to be purged. Media conglomerates to be broken up. Not to mention the normal work of fixing bridges, powergrids, etc.

So much mess to clean up...just to try and get back to where we were before..ugh.
