Junior to attend fundraiser for Capito (WV-02) on July 26 in Charleston
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 06:17 AM by Lasher
The private fundraiser is scheduled for Wednesday night at a residence in the affluent Loudon Heights neighborhood of Charleston, West Virginia. Couples who attend the invitation-only benefit are expected to donate $4,200 - the maximum allowed - to the re-election campaign of Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV 02).

Bush's motorcade is expected to cross the South Side Bridge, where Patriots for Peace and the West Virginia Citizen Action Group have planned an anti-war demonstration, with as many as 300 demonstrators anticipated. From 4:45 to 6 p.m. they will display their "Wall of Remembrance," which includes the names of nearly 2,500 U.S. soldiers killed in the Iraq war, along the sidewalk of the bridge.

Supporters of Capito's Democratic challenger, Mike Callaghan, are hosting "The People's Dinner" at 1550 Virginia Street East, also in Charleston. The reception will run from 6 to 8 PM. Donations of $21 a person or $42 a couple are suggested, but not required. Questions can be directed to the West Virginia Democratic Party at 304-342-8121.

Capito already has nearly $1.1 million in cash on hand, compared to Callaghan's $25,913. Callaghan can win, but he needs our help with money. If you could donate anything, whether it be $5 or $100 every bit helps. You can donate on his website, via credit card, at www.mikewv.com.

1. Thanks for posting this.
I'm going to drop by Callaghan's headquarters here in Martinsburg today and make a donation.

I hope many others will drop by his website and consider making a donation, however small. We need all the help we can get here in WV to fight back against Capito and the Bush cabal!

4. Ooooo, that's a good web site!
Wonder which route The Decider is actually going to take to get to Smelly Snore Cameltoe's extravaganza, where she takes more payoffs from rich folks? One thing's for sure, he really likes to dodge everybody except for carefully scripted encounters with the wealthy elite - and with the really stupid non-rich people who have been persuaded to go along with their scam.

In the Gazette article, I thought Charleston Mayor Danny Jones (Republican, of course) got a little too cute about accommodating the protesters.

Despite the bridge closing, protesters will be allowed to stand along the bridge sidewalk, Jones said.

"We’re working very closely with that group," he said. "I know their leaders. I think I know what they want to do. I think we’re going to find a place where they’ll be contained but seen.

"The president, as I understand, tries not to go very many places by car for this very reason. We want to give them a place, at least in this city, where they can be seen and heard."

If the folks with Patriots for Peace are smart, they’ll have some people posted along each route. If he goes across the Kanawha City bridge, a good place might be at the bottom of the C&O ramp. Of course, the motorcade could bypass them there and just go to Oakwood – but that base could be covered as well.
