NEW Grand Theft Election Ohio: Gonzales and Ashcroft Gut Voting Rights Act
So, no one in the mainstream media (even the Washington Post that thought it was worth reporting the story last December) gives a rat's ass that the career lawyers at the DOJ tried to object to the Texas Redistricting on the very same grounds that the SCOTUS overturned it but were over ruled and SILENCED by their Whitehouse bosses. I mean, that is the DOJ's job, right? To gut any federal legislation that gets in the way of Republican Party ambition or greed, including the Voting Rights Act and the Bill of Rights (except for the part that gives the press its indepence, the press will scream and shout for that one.)

Since the MSM can not be bothered to report on John Ashcroft's and Al Gonzales' GUTTING of the Voting Rights Act, I decided to do it in my own unique medium. Here, for your edification is "No Way to Treat a Lady", from my site Grand Theft Electio Ohio which is still going after two years because the RNC is still stealing elections in Ohio and elsewhere.

Warning. It is not for the squeamish.

The lawyers who risked all to make the truth known must be thoroughly disgusted with the American news media. I hope they found new jobs or are writing books or are workinh for the League of Women Voters in their lawsuit against Blackwell.

5. Oh no!
Don't you realize that you will get flamed for telling us that we are doomed?

Gosh, we just have to be careful that we don't upset the people who think all was fair and square in the last election. And that everything is gonna be all right in this next election.... they don't want to worry, they just want to believe that their vote will count. And you aren't helping them believe. Shame on you!

8. Jesse Jackson article is good read on this topic: from the SUN TIMES

http://www.suntimes.com/output/jesse/cst-edt-jesse04.html

To defend our freedom, we must defend voting rights

July 4, 2006

BY JESSE JACKSON

"'Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." As we celebrate the 230th anniversary of America's independence, we must heed the warning of abolitionist and patriot Wendell Phillips. The liberties we celebrate are not written in stone. They must be renewed and defended by every generation. And they must be guarded vigilantly against those who would undermine them."

He goes on to describe what the DOJ did in Georgia and in Texas and what the Republicans are now attempting to do to the Voting Rights Act.

"After the horrors of the presidential elections in 2000 and 2004, one might think that George Bush would champion clean elections, modernizing our electoral system, and renewing the act. Instead, we witness the systemic effort to undermine voting rights: Partisan, off-year gerrymandering. Partisan voter suppression schemes. Partisan overruling of Justice Department career professionals. Partisan efforts to block renewal of the act itself.

"Over the nation's 230 years, citizens have mobilized to extend basic rights and liberties to working people, women, the young, African Americans and other minorities. Our liberties have been secured through struggle. Now, in the face of what appears to be a systematic effort to trample voting rights, citizens of conscience must rouse themselves once more. We cannot let the rights won at such a high price be stolen by powerful partisans. We must let those in power -- the politicians, the political appointees, the partisan justices -- know that there will be a terrible price to pay if the Voting Rights Act is not renewed and its provisions are not respected."

10. I was born ready! I have been begging for a DC march for Voting Rights!
The Jesse Jackson piece has got me optimistic. It makes me think that he and the religious leaders who were in Dallas recently may be fixing to focus on Voting Rights, in which case the next big march they schedule should be about the stuff he mentions in his article.

Man, I am pumped and ready to go!
