Walter Jones R-NC - Hearing
Edited on Fri Jun-30-06 02:34 PM by Steely_Dan
I'm watching a repeat of a broadcast from yesterday's hearings on WMD.

I feel compelled to write Walter Jones (a Republican from NC) and thank him for his statements concerning WMD. The subject was specifically the "500" weapons found recently that were probably from the Iran/Iraq war. Jones repeated the importance of NOT sending our soldiers into war without checking the intelligence several times. He stated that he had spoken with several Generals and all were in agreement that the weapons found were basically useless with regard to their original intent.

I was just a bit taken back that this republican is going against the grain of his party to attempt to tell the truth. You could tell from his body language that he knew he was going against his party. True courage.

1. he's a maverick
At least on the Iraqi occupation. Mother Jones did a cover article on him in their January issue--you can still read it online. www.motherjones.com (search on his name).

2. He's somebody who should be calling for impeachment.
Wouldn't you agree?

3. Absolutely!
I think that he would be the ideal representative to go forward with impeachment. Perhaps I will include that in my letter to him.

4. They finally squeezed the information from the General that...
these weapons were from the Iran-Iraq War era. Is this news? Everybody knew he had weapons back then. But those are not the weapons we were looking for when we invaded, right?

5. ...but if you were in a room with them, they could make you very sick...
yeah...a room full of pepper spray could make you very uncomfortable and the American citizen lives with that WMD every day...

9. No one asked him if he could state
categorically that none of them were sold to Saddam by the US!
The Reagan/Bush team sold chemicals to him at that time.

7. I want to keep an eye on this guy,
he stopped by the hearing the other day about the run up to the war, and ask some serious questions. He appearers to have taken a second look at whats going on in DC, and he's putting two and two together and coming up with four.

He may want to stay off small airplanes for awhile, but this republican is asking some serious questions. Perhaps other's will follow, i can only hope!

10. This hearing was simply
a typical GOP gathering of lies and deceit to try and take some of the
heat off of that asshat, Rick Sanatorium. He made an ass of himself over this and their pulling out the stops to try and mitigate it.
There was a funny clip about this on the Daily Show last night!
Sanatorium showing 'confidential information' over the TV!!
Hysterical, especially considering all of his mental case colleagues have benn blathering over the NY Times story.

11. Asshat...
I don't know why that "asshat" makes me laugh so. It just cracks me up. It's like....(reference to Bush)... "Bunnypants."
