I'm thinking there's no better time than now to "revive" the Meetups. But, I think that "Drinking Liberally" and other groups have taken up the slack.

Still...for those of us over 40 with kids or Elders to take care of maybe we need more than "Drinking Liberally" or the local chapter of our Dems to get together and socialize and be inspired over "appetizers."

What's going on in your community with this?

thanks...

2. well that's a long stretch of airspace...but thanks, really
Maybe we need a new "Global Community" with "Meet Ups" that's the Anti-WTO/Bilderbergers and International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Maybe one day I will get there..I'm a Brit long time before two of my ancestors sailed to America to sell textiles in 1786.

I also have French and Irish...But the Brit Connection is back ...way back ...and traceable.

We could DO THIS...if we have connections. A worldwide movement of "THE PEOPLE."

3. If they ever have a meetup in daylight, I'll go
but around here they're after dark and my vision is far too poor to allow me to drive after dark.

5. I know what you say...........
It's hard for them knowing that so many Dems live in areas that are Repug Only.....

And, they are targeting the Young...and the Older's already have their groups that are hard to break into.

We do need some "Brunch Type stuff, for those who need that time of day.

My experience with my fellow Dems in my Red State, though is that they really aren't too social...preferring the night stuff where they can pop in and out and the "Drinking Librally" where the youngies can schmooze.

Also the Dems in my red state...don't like the kind of "fancy stuff" I might put on for them...in the Day....Just the feedback I've gotten about events I've attended and observed. Maybe in parts of the country outside Red States there's a "Brunch Crowd" though. When I lived in Connecticut and NJ awhile back it seemed that folks there kind of liked Brunch...

6. our former meetup crowd is getting together on our own projects
so meet up is not necessary. we have democracyforamerica events monthly and we are spreading our subterfuge into the greater democratic party establishment :-)

8. Thanks for the link for "Dem Songs" and I think what you say is true...
many of us "Meet Up Folks" have gone on to targeted projects. Still...there might be new folks just waking up who might benefit. But, some of us are very tired and just trying to focus on our own projects...so I understand.

7. There was a meet up for Clark in 04
but it met in an Irish pub downtown and I just didn't want to go drink in a bar at night. Not against drinking per se, but I wanted to meet earlier and sure, maybe have one glass of wine or so, but not late into the night.

Now I have daytime hours and I volunteer for Ned Lamont. It's better this way. I go to headquarters in New Haven and do whatever for a couple of hours. Or I walk the precinct, which I did to get names on a ballot (which, it turned out, he didn't need to get on the ballot to challenge Joe in the primary).

9. I know...we all can't make the late hours or don't drink ...so we do what
we can and we are already here doing stuff and outside. It's the newbies we hope to get.

on a local level...and it ain't a bad thing. Some of us are also involved with DailyKos.
We also meet monthly in a private room at a church instead of restaurants.

In effect, it's the same situation as msongs' post.

11. KoKo, we meet every month
just about. :D You're welcome to join us anytime. :hi:

We usually post a thread about it in the NC forum. NClib has hosted a couple of times and I've hosted once so far. Mostly we meet at various restaurants that are reasonably priced, because not everybody is rolling in dough.

Lately it's felt more like a private party with NClib, Struggle4Progress and me, but anyone is welcome to join us.

16. DFA Link is where our meet-ups are listed now.
http://www.dfalink.com/index.php

You need to sign up to see the various groups. I think since Dean/DFA Meet-Ups became DFA Link, since Meet-up started charging..that we are up to 24,000 registered again. A lot on my DFA mailing list are not good on computer, just do email, and they have not even been to the DFA Link site...nor did they go to the Meet-Up site. Several have tried to register, and it is too confusing to them. They just get the word by email or phone.
