AP: Biden: 'Security and faith' keys to win presidency
Biden: 'Security and faith' keys to win presidency

By Anne Saunders, Associated Press Writer | June 17, 2006

DOVER, N.H. --Calling the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks a greater shock to the American
psyche than Pearl Harbor, U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden said Saturday that Democrats must
demonstrate they can provide for national security to win back the presidency.

The Delaware Democrat spoke to just over 100 people gathered at an event organized
by Strafford County Democrats.

"I'm running for president -- flat out," he said, adding his party should learn
to be more blunt.

President Bush beat Kerry in 2004 because people wanted to believe he would keep them
safe, Biden said. The mothers who voted for him still want one thing primarily:
"Security for their families, physical security," he said.

1. And what Sunday morning show will Biden be bumping his gums on today?
What a loquacious, vain, self-promoter!

3. He is right on both issues.

......Biden also criticized Democrats for their sometimes patronizing approach to religion, saying believers of different faiths don't expect everyone to join them.

"They just want to know we respect them," he said. "If we can't negotiate the faith issue, forget it, we won't win."

Biden argued in favor of more money for homeland security, saying in his conversations with the nation's wealthy, he found them willing to forgo their Bush tax cuts for the cause.

8. I must have missed all the pro-atheist Democrats.
Where does this BS of Dems being hostile to religion come from? Unless you count not wanting to discriminate against gays in the Constitution as being hostile, where's the proof?

9. YET ANOTHER example of Dems parroting Repub talking points
near an election. I'm surprised he didn't say, "Oh, and when the Iraqis stand up, we'll stand down."

Biden: Losers aren't loveable when their losing causes mass death.

10. The media promotes the MYTH that Dems are hostile to religion and that
Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 07:53 AM by blm
Republicans are tough on national security. That is a STORYLINE invented by professional SPINNERS - more Democrats have even SERVED in the military and have studied real world policies, than anyone in the GOP majority, inc the entire WH and cabinet.

And I would bet my house there'd be more Dems who know the Ten Commandments and live by them than a whole pack of LYING SOUTHERN REPUBLICANS.

Biden doesn't even believe a word he says, but he thinks his spinning the lies to glorify himself is the ticket he needs - - what a damn fool.

14. Joe Biden is not my choice
however, the man is a straight shooter. He has to learn how to talk in short, concise points, instead of long winded Kerryite whoratory, but he comes across as a direct, no bullshit kind of guy.
