One more time ...... Russert and Matthews are not to be trusted
I am continually amazed at people just now marvelling at the republicanity of Tim Russert and Chris Matthews. The following should be common knowledge by now.

Once upon a time, large corporations and their executives typically avoided any public discussion of their politics because partisan positions alienated customers and employees. But all of that changed after GE bought NBC in 1986. For seemingly eons, Immelt’s predecessor, the legendary Jack Welch, was a rabid right-winger who boasted openly about helping turn former liberals Chris Matthews and Tim Russert into neocons. (And Los Angeles Representative Henry Waxman is still waiting for GE to turn over those in-house tapes that would prove once and for all whether Welch, in 2000, ordered his network and cable stations to reverse course and call the election for Bush instead of Gore.)

3. Well think about what Welch could promise Matthews
and Russert if they tipped the news to the right...More advertising dollars from large corporations = better salaries for the anchors.

Also, the RW has had a coordinated effort for years to have a talking head available for any situation. The Think Tanks were a brilliant idea. And having the anchors not recognize the position of said think tank is even a better manuever.

6. Exactly - the corporate media has been groomed like this for twenty years

and they have had all the players in place since the late 90s - Clinton couldn't have been impeached without the corpmedia pushing it through and giving it a legitimacy it just didn't have.

And it wasn't just fear that made them catapult Bush2 to a heroic figure post 9-11. The fascists needed to build a protective wall so high that they could control that image no matter what.

It took a category 5 hurricane - an even UNSPINNABLE - for the corp media to break enough for the people to see what was really going on.... or not.

4. Amen, amen, amen...
A-MEN!

Every time I see them used as a source on a story or there's a thread about them saying this or that, I want to say just that: Russert and Matthews are not to be trusted! Ever. They have gone over to the dark side, and nothing -- not even a momentary abberation or moment of clarity -- will change that.
