Man, that Jon Stewart is the best...
He, Olbermann, and Colbert are the only 3 TV personalities I think I can stand. 2 Comedian and a former sports guy. Interesting where the truth comes from.

1. If it weren't for these three, I would have gone insane years ago.

5. Agreed. Except I was a bit put off by last night's first bit
Of all the corruption and "conning" in D.C., TWO Democrats get highlighted then Hastert is shown with a Democratic Party banner next to him. It looked like Jon was raking all Democrats by the visual message.

6. That bugged me too
Sometimes Stewart goes too far in trying to slam both sides equally.

I don't mind him sticking it to Dems when we deserve it (which lord knows is often enough). I do mind when he makes it look, or even just allows it to look, like both sides are equally screwed up, incompetent or evil. He knows better.

7. Remember one thing....
He is a comedian... Not a newscaster....

He is looking to be funny first and foremost....

8. Well, yeah, of course...
But I don't give him a total pass on that.

I mean really, the news media is part of the entertainment industry too. I don't think they should be, because I still have these idealistic notions that journalism should be something more. But it isn't, and they're in it to make a buck. I often call them media whores for that. Why shouldn't I call Stewart the same, just because he tries to be funny at the same time?

Don't get me wrong. I really do enjoy the Daily Show. I love Jon Stewart, loved it when he called Tucker Carlson a "dick" on CNN, and recognize that, overall, he's one of the good guys. I just think he doesn't live up to his own standards of responsibility sometimes.

3. I love the way Jon is able to put rightwingers like Bill Bennett in their
place in such a clever and non-threatening way. He is so amiable in his put downs that they end up laughing with him and probably only realize later that they were bested by him.....love him!

4. Did anyone catch TDS last night? Right at the beginning of the show
Jon said something about his "interview" (slap down!) of Bennett the night before. I didn't hear what he said. I thought the night before the show ended very abruptly with no Moment of Zen or a talk over to Colbert segment.

Last night while slapping down the Gambling King, Jon said they would be right back after the break (second break) but immediately after the commercial Jon said they were running long and good night. My question, was Bennett still on the stage with Jon? Is there any hope that he pulled a Novak and stomped off? I know the show was long but would love to see if Billy Morals hung around after he got his ass handed to him.

Jon is amassing quite a collection of must see TV spots.
