2 hrs to go! Californians, vote for DEBRA BOWEN for Sec of State!
I'm finding out that even some DUers don't know how important this race is.

If you haven't voted yet, vote for DEBRA BOWEN for California Secretary of State. If you know someone who hasn't voted yet, SPREAD THE WORD! Call, email friends, family! Vote for DEBRA BOWEN!

Tight race, with a whole lot at stake--voting integrity in California! BOWEN knows her stuff, is very savvy on electronic voting, and is a strong, strong advocate for open goverment. Her opponent Deborah Ortiz doesn't have a clue about electronic voting, and has made some alarmingly naive statements about it. DEBRA BOWEN got the endorsement of 80% of the rank and file at the state Dem convention.

5. Yup, turnout is very low. EVERY VOTE COUNTS...
...even if every vote isn't counted. Which brings me to another topic. I've begun to suspect that the sudden surge of war profiteering corporate news monopoly stories on election fraud has been timed to supress the vote--most espeically of people who form a vague impression that "it's all rigged," and so succumb to despair and disempowerment, and don't vote.

I'm also concerned that the Bush-dominated Republican Party is way ahead of us in planning for election fraud, has already factored in the probable citizen revolt against "trade secret" vote tabulation by Bushite corporations, and has long been working for massive vote suppression as their NEXT ace in the hole (--lots and lots of evidence of this).

I have worried about telling people the truth about our election system--just how badly corrupted and riggable it is--for some time now, since the beginning, really, for fear of it doing just that--inducing despair and disempowerment, and failure to vote. But I can't get around it. We MUST tell people the truth. If this democracy is to be saved, the people must do it, collectively. And how can they do that without the truth? Further, I can't think of anything more demoralizing than constantly losing and not knowing WHY. If you KNOW what's going on, you can devise strategies both to prevent demoralization and to overcome and change the fraudulent election SYSTEM.

A final thought: a low turnout may mean disgust with the Democrats and their "business as usual" mode, combined with the war profiteering corporate news monopolies failing to give the time of day to alternative Dem candidates, to at least liven up the debate. Things will undoubtedly become more engaging as we move to November, but this so-called debate (basically mudslinging) between the two well-funded Dem candidates for governor in Calif, or instance, is dismal--meanwhile the corporate news monopolies are completely ignoring a really GREAT Dem candidate for governor, MICHAEL STRIMLING. Check out his web site--www.michaelstrimling.com--and weep for a true Leftist platform!

Ah, me. My feelings about all this are in transition. I find the low turnout in Calif really dismaying.
