SUSA poll: Busby 45%, Bilbray 47%, Busby leads ages 18-34 by 20%
"Bilbray leads by 14 points among voters age 65 plus; Busby leads by 20 points among voters younger than 35. The two candidates are effectively tied among voters 35 to 64. Should younger voters, historically unreliable, vote in unexpectedly large numbers: advantage Busby. Should older voters vote in disproportionately large numbers: advantage Bilbray."

"I never like it when we have to rely on young voters turning out. It just never happens."

"I will say this, though: If Busby loses in a squeaker, the tradmed will talk about how Dems 'failed to capitalize' on all manner of GOP sins and flaws. But this storyline will miss an important point: If Democrats across the map improve over their baselines as much as Busby has in CA-50, we will do quite well in November."

3. I wonder if Francine's internal polls reflect the same totals.
It sounds do-able to me.

Go, Francine!

4. My hometown district. My official prediction............
Bilbray wins because of "secret" outrage over Senate Immigration Bill. The reason I'm calling it "secret" outrage is because I believe that people who are afraid of being called racist for being against illegal immigration are lying to the pollsters. People are waiting till they get to the voting booth to get even. That's what I think. I hope I'm wrong but.......we'll see.

5. Busby will lose this one.
The Repugs have their 2006 wedge issue: immigration. And it is a winner for them. The sheeple will do what they always do and support the fascists. What is incredible is that people of Social Security age are supporting the Repug in huge numbers. Busby missed a huge opportunity by not attacking privatization and pinning Bilbray down.

We are seeing the opening shot in a repeat of the 2002 midterms. It's going to be disappointing for our side if we don't get our act together.
