The left didn't lose America, the GOP stole it!
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 05:44 PM by ProSense
If Gingrich's plan was so great and the Left lost America, why did the GOP have to steal elections 2000, 2002, 2004. The GOP dominance is driven by corruption, greed and media complicity.

Dems gain in 'hidden election'

By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY

Nationwide, Democrats added more than 60 legislative seats, reversing the 2002 results that gave Republicans more state legislators than Democrats for the first time in a half century.

Democratic state legislators now outnumber Republicans by two: 3,658 to 3,656. A pair of undecided races could leave it tied.

2. The GOPs couldn't steal the elections without OWNING THE MEDIA first.
Because when you own the media you control PUBLIC PERCEPTION. They know they got killed in the election, so they have to have their media dump on the real winner.

3. I think using the phrase "lost America" is harmful in other ways.
The notion that the majority party can and should control America is antithetical to the democracy I hope for. I recently saw Ted Kennedy at a book party on C-Span where he spoke of the great congressional accomplishments that resulted from the efforts of both parties. That the majority should OWN America is part of the *Co code.

4. voter fraud has been a common thing in both parties...

...though the GOP has it down to an art.

But...

Al Gore, in 2000, was hardly "left" as defined by DU. He was as DLC as they come, and was the Clinton administration's chief backer of NAFTA and welfare reform.

The election was stolen to be sure, but not from the left.

2004 - pretty much the same. Though not as much evidence to support election theft, Kerry was still DLC. Not quite the "left."

The USA Today article plainly says Dems made gains on the state and local level in red areas based on disgruntled Republicans and by courting swing voters- heresy to the "left" on DU. And the national party still lost in those areas.

The MSNBC article, detailing Democratic wins in 2005, are from moderate Dems. Tim Kaine, DLC. John Corzine? New Democrat who once said he didn't join the DLC because he felt their objective had been reached.

Your Congress (Senate)stats:

See the 100th Congress (1987-1989)? After 6 years of Republican control, Dems won it back by 8 seats. Guess where those seats came from? The Democratic Senators elected and who gave the Senate back to the Democrats included moderates Barbara Mikulski (a participant in the DLC's National Service Tour), Harry Reid (who recently said Democrats have to "swallow their pride" and move toward the middle), Conservative Democrat Richard Shelby, DLCer Bob Graham, DLCer Kent Conrad, and DLCer Tom Daschle.

Yep! The kind of Dems Beinart endorses.

This is not theory or opinion. It is a matter of public record. A fact.

But keep in mind, there has been a Democrat elected president only twice in 25 year - both were Clinton - DLCer - and the kind of Democrat Beinart endorses.

The "left" as defined by DU sure as hell mucked up the Democrats as the dominant party.

7. who has said the two parties are alike? Not me.
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 07:41 AM by wyldwolf
And what do those votes have to do with anything?

Dennis Kucinich voted twice for a flag burning amendment.
Paul Wellstone voted for DOMA

Show me where anything I have written isn't factual?

Can you not do anything but say something is "BS spin?"
