Blair will not pick up his Congressional Medal at this time

exerpt from BBC article on the joint press conference this evening:

Congressional medal

The BBC's Jonathan Beale in Washington says one piece of business on the trip will remain outstanding.

Mr Blair will not be picking up the US congressional medal he was awarded for his support in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Our correspondent says Mr Blair clearly does not think this is the best time to receive a medal over an issue that has already cost him, and the US president, support.

2. I don't think Blair's support
in the wake of 9/11 cost him. Surely the BBC doesn't think Bush's Iraq war has anything to do with 9/11....
