"You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I."-Specter
Edited on Thu May-18-06 07:17 PM by trof
A Senate committee approved a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage Thursday, after a shouting match that ended when one Democrat strode out and the Republican chairman bid him "good riddance."

"I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., shouted after Sen. Russ Feingold declared his opposition to the amendment, his affinity for the Constitution and his intention to leave the meeting.

"If you want to leave, good riddance," Specter finished.

"I've enjoyed your lecture, too, Mr. Chairman," replied Feingold, D-Wis., who is considering a run for president in 2008. "See ya."

So...Arlen Specter finally admits he's NOT a protecter of the constitution?
Didn't he swear an oath to do that?
I'm pretty sure.

1. I think he means he is as equally obligated to protect the constitution
as Feingold.

and for all those people who think he's a voice of moderation, he's been showing his true colors this week: Repuke yellow.
Fuck all of them. I'm with Mike Malloy - there's not one reasonable Republican in the House or the Senate.

20. I think...
"Fuck all of them. I'm with Mike Malloy - there's not one reasonable Republican in the House or the Senate."

...that Maine's Olympia Snowe is reasonable. If I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me.

3. Spector is a wolf who sometimes puts on a sheep mask.
He's a dyed in the wool water carrier who lies about it when it's convenient.

6. Nay, he is the sheep who occasionally dons the mask of a wolf!
But you're correct, he occasionally bluffs but invariably folds when called. I'm sorry, it's all these poker shows on TV, they are really pushing this online gambling thing, aren't they?

5. Specter is just a creaky old rubber stamp
The Bush Administration might have to stamp on him a couple times, but he always gets the job done.

Good on Mr Feingold.

10. Now, wait a minute Mr. exSpectorator!
How is that you are you protecting the constitution?

By discriminating against a particular group of citizens? I guess that IS the republican way...

Oh and this is to take the power to decide away from the states?

Why do I have to listen to the republican BS about states rights then?

Hypocrites!

12. Maybe Specter has one of those Bush "waivers" that declares
lying to be legal as in the telecom scandal.

or, iow, a typical Republican.

14. Yes.But, crossing your fingers isn't as official as a waiver from
the President.
Think about it. If Bush can and does declare that he can grant anyone the legal right to lie about anything, why should anyone say anything about anything because if lying is legal, then all words are meaningless.

26. I know it must feel that way at times, but,,,,,
whenever I post I take a really straight tone = more of a matter of fact tone. Every now and then I toss some snark, but, mostly I go for the straightforward, stick to the facts and record exchanges..

Andy and I used to have some all out battles and practically make out afterwards. heheheh....we GOT that about each other, even when it would appear that we were going for the jugular. Man....we had alot of GREAT times - probably confused the more casual observer, though.

21. That might not be such a good idea
since crossed fingers are also used to express hope.

I personally think a big, bloated, white elephant flippin' the bird to everyone else would be a far more representative symbol.
