New Statement From Dean On CBN Quote
Edited on Thu May-11-06 02:21 PM by incapsulated
"I misstated the Democratic Party's platform, which does not say that marriage should be limited to a man and a woman, but says the Party is committed to full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and leaves the issue to the states to decide. The Democratic Party remains committed to equal protection under the law for all Americans. How we achieve that goal continues to be the subject of a contentious debate, but our Party continues to oppose constitutional amendments that seek to short circuit the debate on how to achieve equality for all Americans."

His original statement:

"On gay marriage, the platform said marriage is between a man and a woman. That's what it says. I think where we may take exception with some religious leaders is we believe in inclusion. That everybody deserves to live with dignity and respect and equal rights under the law are important. I'm not saying we'll agree with everything between the more conservative evangelicals and Democrats but I think there's more common ground and we're willing to work with the evangelical community."

the fundies. As sad as it is, if we get the fundies to split and not go so hard core Repug, we can really start giving the Repugs a run for their money.

Because the fact of the matter is that we would have already had a lot of them were they not so fucking homophobic!

4. Good for you.
I'm straight, but this "separate but equal" stuff is akin to separate restrooms and drinking fountains for "coloreds". It's bullshit.

It wasn't O.K. to do it to blacks and it's not O.K. to do it to gays.

6. Yes it is.
Dean really blew that one, but he admits it. He still has my support, and it is going to take good Democratic working majorities in legislatures all across this nation before mairrages will ever be defined to allow men to marry men and women to marry women. Dean actually is the one guy to head the DNC who is working to make that possible one day in the not so distant future.
