Ney to be hounded by "Gamblin' Bob"
For months, Ohio GOP Rep. Bob Ney has been dogged by federal prosecutors investigating his ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Now, the Licking County congressman is going to be stalked at his district appearances by a character called "Gamblin' Bob" created by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
"Gamblin' Bob" will be dressed in a top hat, black suit, red bow tie and vest, like he's bound for a Las Vegas casino, and will highlight Ney's ties to gambling lobbyist Abramoff as well as Ney's $34,000 gambling win in 2003 at the Ambassador's Club casino in London.
DCCC spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod said "Gamblin' Bob" will "make sure every Ohio voter knows about Bob Ney's record and ties to special interests, and his habits when he is not back home in the district." The character, to be officially unveiled at a Zanesville press conference tomorrow, will follow Ney until election day.
