William F. Buckley; Hillary could very well be president
William F. Buckley, a recent convert to the dismal war in Iraq, is again turing heads in Washington. He came out with a statement tonight in essence saying that Hillary Clinton could very well be our next president.

"I don't find a commanding presence, sort of knocking on the door". He called Clinton "A very consequential women, with an extraordinary background. A phenomenon, and candidate who might very well be president".

Either Buckley has gone off the deep end, or he's playing up Clinton, so the Republicans don't underestimate her.

3. I think Buckley doesn't give a shit anymore
I saw a series of interviews with him that Charlies Rose replayed last week. In the last few years, he's been withdrawing from his public life.

In the last interview he said -- literally -- that he was tired of life, and was ready to die at any time. He didn't say it emotionally or humorously. He said it very matter of factly. Saidf he's seen it all, and found life to be be tedious now.

So I would assume he basically just says what he thinks these days, without thougght of the repercussions one way or the otehr.

4. They WANT her to be the nominee
Huge money for them and probably an easy win, especially if McCain massages the fundies enough to get the nomination.

6. Clinton '08
It's happening folks.

Better brush off your vintage 'Clinton' gear!

Survey says, it will see a comeback in a couple years. :patriot:

7. I'm an oddity at the ole DU, I think she would make a good President
and she could paraphrase her husband, saying: "With me, you get two for the price of one."

8. Not so odd
I've always liked her and also think she will make a good president. She's a good choice for the first female to have this job. T'will be amusing to see how Bill handles First Gentleman duties. I hope they get the chance to do it again, and I think Russ Feingold would make a terrific VP.

10. I think she'd be good too. Listened to her speak at a fundraiser recently,
and was quite impressed.

Of course, after listening (with my ears covered) to * for six years. . . .

I will vote for whoever the nominee is, but I would have no problem voting for Hillary Clinton.

15. I don't know if she would be good or not
She has great domestic policies, to be sure. But she voted for this war and I do not want a pro-war president. If she is the Democrat nominee, I will support her 100%. But surely someone better can be nominated.

11. William Buckley can keep his advice to himself.
It's a set-up, and a pretty lame one at that. GORE/FEINGOLD '08!!!

12. No better way to change the subject and rally the Reich Wing Base
Buckley would adore Hillary as the 08 Candidate...go ahead, lovey, run...

13. Did you hear Delay on Hillary? "Nothing worse than a woman know-it-all."
I'm afraid that's an unconscious reason so many DU'ers seem to hate Hillary. So many men have problems with strong women.

This leads to a link where you can hear Delay gloating along with Chris Matthews:

I think sometimes, he is going to fall out of his chair.
