Virginians...please help Webb get on the ballot!
Hey Virginians and those who live nearby, I understand that James Webb needs to get thousands of signatures collected in only a couple of weeks in order to be able to appear on the ballot for the June primary. I wish I lived close enough to get there to help....

It would really be a shame if, after all of the work just to get him to run, he couldn't get enough signatures to get on the ballot....

His website is here: http://www.webbforsenate.com/ You can sign up to volunteer. I don't know how much of a chance he has to actually win but I understand he's probably our best shot and, if he doesn't win, he could at least damage Allen, which is a good thing.

If you're looking for a way to make a difference and live in Virginia, here's your chance....Please help if you can.

Thanks!!

1. Please be aware of this
http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2006/3/18/81532/7817/29#c29

Webb apparently believes that the Vietnam War was "moral" and he said that John Kerry "deserves condemnation for his activities as the leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW)."

He has opposed the Iraq War since before it started but what do his views on Vietnam - and the actions of VVAW - say about his attitude towards anti-war protests, and dissent against war in general?

And note that his comments came out a couple months before the Swift Liars emerged and may have encouraged / emboldened them.

I understand that there is another Democratic candidate in Virginia named Harris Miller. I do not live in VA myself but will have to live with the actions of the future Senate. Please consider your choice carefully.

2. Webb's undoubtedly an opportunist and not a loyal Democrat
That said, Allen needs to be targeted right now because of his presidential ambitions. If he can't be defeated, he must be weakened. Can Harris Miller mount a serious challenge?

3. So someone who switches to the Democrats, can't be 'loyal'?

4. The guy supported Allen in 2000 and supported Robb before that
He's been all over the place enough that I'm highly skeptical. Once again though, he's much better than having George Allen get another term in the senate.
