Is it part of the Bush/Rove strategy to "attack the press"?
There has been an uptick of stories from the Administration in the last few days, to accusing the press of not reporting the good news from Iraq to outright blaming them for the failures in Iraq. And yesterday, the first person he called on was Helen Thomas. Was that pre-planned? Did they pick out Helen to try and make her look bad and bring their polls up by doing so? Just wondering....

1. They wouldn't be the first administration to do so. Nixon and
Agnew certainly did.

2. Does a bear shit in the woods?
nothing is ever their fault, even though they've had the congress, SCOTUS, WH, and media for almost 6 years, and all but the WH for 12 years. Blame, blame, blame, and hoep enough Limbeciles will believe it to save them from impeachment.

3. They look and act desperate and the public see's it...
And attacking the press probably won't reap the results they're seeking in the end.

Face it, Bush is pretty much screwed.

4. Not so much attack as "intimidate" and keep them under his thumb.

5. If they thought they'd bring their poll numbers UP ...
... by trying to bring Helen Thomas DOWN, that strategy is about as well-planned as their strategy in Iraq.

Thre new talking point is, of course, blame the media - because that's been the MO of this Administration from day one. EVERYTHING that goes wrong is someone else's fault.

If things are going as well in Iraq as Bush says it is, why they don't they show us photographs of the new schools and hospitals that have been built there, up and running without any problems? Why don't they show us fuzzy-warm video clips of Iraqis shopping merrily in downtown Baghdad, without fear? Why don't they film interviews with Iraqi citizens, extolling the fact that they now have full-time electricity, clean drinking water, and a thriving economy?

The answer is all too obvious. They can't show us these things, because they simply don't exist.

6. Good news
Something like 84 news people HAVE DIED covering Iraq for the last 4 years. They gave their lives trying to hunt down some "GOOD NEWS".

Maybe of news organizations sacrifice 80 more reporters and staff they can die trying to hunt down this ephemeral "GOOD NEWS".
