GOP unleashes outrageous new attack ad re: Feingold/Censure
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 01:14 PM by iconoclastNYC
Now you know why the Democrats are not signing on to this proposal.

Of course this attack would be mostly useless if we had more brave Democrats to come out and back Feingold and condemn political attacks like this ad.

Listen to the ad here: http://www.gop.com/

Can someone type up a transcript?

I don't think the public will buy this crap. We need to let Feingold know we have his back.

1. Just heard it on Thom Hartmann
He kept interrupting and saying that Feingold wasn't trying to usurp the war on terror, but to hold Bush accountable to obeying the law!

September eleventh changed our country.

And it changed how America responds to terrorists.

President Bush is working to keep American families safe.

Passing the PATRIOT Act which has disrupted over one hundred and fifty terrorist threats and cells making sure the US is monitoring terrorist communications.

But some Democrats are working against these efforts to secure our country, opposing the PATRIOT Act and terrorist surveillance program.

Their leader is Russ Feingold.

Now Feingold and other Democrats want to censure the President. Publicly reprimanding President Bush for pursuing suspected members of al Qaeda.

Some Democrats are even calling for President Bush’s impeachment.

Is this how Democrats plan to win the War on Terror?

Call Russ Feingold and ask him why he’s more interested in censuring the President than protecting our freedom.

4. This is despicable, as usual
All Democrats should publicly condemn this treatment of Sen. Feingold and this willful lying about what is is saying about Bush and the Censure Resolution.

I think most Democrats rallied around Cong. Murtha when the GOP went after him after he revealed his plans for a troop pullout from Iraq. Democrats should denounce this attack ad on Russ Feingold, regardless of whether or not they agree with the Censure Resolution or want to press for accountability hearings.

7. I agree. MoveOn and DailyKos should spearhead the movement
I just don't see how we can let shit like this go on.

They'll just keep swiftboating us and the leadership will say : "Please sir, may I have another"

Enough is enough. Fight back!

10. They probably did this during the 'recess' on purpose
so that it would be harder for Dems to respond and get press coverage. These cowards are just concience-free little bastards.

11. Just reading this makes me want to
:puke:

Sickening. Just sickening. They have no shame. Unfortunately, explaining the actual issue to most Americans will take longer than the average American's attention span.

I'm so sick of them using fear to drive their agenda.

3. There's nothing new here.
I mean really. "Democrats don't protect our freedom!" The problem with that rhetoric is that 66% of the population no longer buys into it. Maybe now they'll all see how easily they were duped before. The GOP might have some backlash headed its way.

8. Supposedly they have backlash insurance.
Becasue of thier wedges issue - gays, abortion, and immigration.

The DLC says that Democrats shall not use Wedges Issues. Will Marshall's first rule : "Do no harm."

Karl Rove's first rule : "DO HARM"

6. Anything that causes the GOP to spend money is a tactical victory
at least.

The strategic importance of Feingold's resolution and it's danger to the Republican agenda is evidenced by their necessity to make an ad to counter it.

I'd say that's Feingold 3, GOP minus a bunch of bucks.

like he did sh so casually to smear Joe Wilson. And Bush did this supposed unscreened press conference. It was all unscreened except for Faux's Cameron Tball question about Feingold and the censure. In a well practiced response Bush laid out their strategery. They're feeling hreatened.

14. Totally Predictable, but it's just another Straw Man easy to knock down
If our party leaders don't know how to do that by now, our party is in worse trouble than it ever was....

Perhaps they all need to grab a page from V for Vendetta to learn what needs to be said in response to this red herring fear mongering propaganda bullshit.

Our people are getting losing advice from losers.

16. I honestly believe
the censure issue is as threatening to them as the revelations by Joe Wilson - it's big lying, impeachable stuff. Two highly credible well spoken advocates. But the best thing about this is, it's not 2003. They're taking a huge gamble trumpeting this issue, which a huge segment of American's endorse.
With poll numbers in the toilet I don't think they can afford to let impeachment and law breaking be up front and talked about. This is a mentally tough game. Dems have to be savvy. They have to be. It's obvious what they're up to.

17. Good. Let them deplete their funds in a futile attempt to "shout
down" the Feingold censure resolution. Feingold's proposal will still be standing after the ad campaign.
