The Right To Rule
As I think we all know, there is a massive disconnect between the egregious crimes of this administration and the tepid representation of those crimes in the MSM and within the supposed opposition party, the Democrats. This disconnect breeds frustration which eventually seems to breed hopelessness. I think this is largely because the parties are fighting each other NOT over who REPRESENTS the people (this is a no-brainer when it comes to the Republicans) they are fighting over who RULES the people. Therefore the frustration and outrage of the people is only useful in as much as it can secure the right to rule. So a censure vote may be allowed when everyone knows an armed escort should be sent into the Whitehouse and many of the offices of Congress to round up the criminals. That, it appears, we shall never get. This is not representative democracy (if it ever was). This is the Byzantine Court fighting each other as the 'barbarians' slowly gather at the gate.

1. Hmmm...interesting.
A perspective often overlooked...the difference between ruling and representing.

2. Creepy...
Well, a lot of people say they're 'out of touch.' And it sounds like they are. All that marketing is meaningless to a good portion of America. We don't want to be TOLD "we're going to do the right things," we want to see people actually DOING the right things.

Hell, is it no wonder we have such a low voter turnout? People know there's too much bullshit in Washington. They KNOW it. They know they're being fed a line, that their voices are little tin whispers in the wind.

4. Republican brand loyalty is killing democracy. GOP marketing plan worked.
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 02:33 PM by MissMarple
A thread on brand loyalty was posted the other day. I think it makes a certain sense. Many people so closely identify with their party (brand name) that they simply can't see the trees for the forest. They still think the forest is Republican, but instead the many of the individual trees have been replaced by an alien plant species.

When will the every day Republicans begin to realize that their party has been high jacked and is driving the country over a cliff into totalitarian chaos?

The Fourth Amendment:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

What part of the fourth amendment don't they understand? Why do they think warrantless searches are fine for George&Co to authorize? Is it OK for George to flout Constitutional law, but not OK for Clinton to say he hadn't had sex with an unmarried woman? How on earth do they reconcile that kind of thinking?
