Top CIA official investigated on corruption charges: report

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The number three official at the CIA is the subject of an internal corruption investigation related to the bribery case of a US congressman, a US television network reported.

The CIA inspector general has opened an investigation into the Central Intelligence Agency's executive director, Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, ABC reported.

The probe is in connection to two defense contractors accused of bribing Pentagon officials and Republican US congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham.

"It is standard practice for CIA's Office of Inspector General -- an aggressive, independent watchdog -- to look into assertions that mention agency officers," CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano told ABC.

Born in San Diego County in 1954, Wilkes graduated from Hilltop High School in 1972, along with his football teammate and best friend Kyle Dustin "Dusty" Foggo, currently third-in-command at the Central Intelligence Agency. Wilkes and Foggo were roommates at San Diego State University, were best men at each other's weddings and named their sons after each other.
