Fun diary about Dean at the WA state crab fest tonight.....Kos link.
This person sounds so enthusiastic, I felt like I was there. I could almost see her rushing about getting more condiments, keeping folks supplied. Sounds like they set a record fundraising.

Funniest line of the evening:
"Brian Baird had the funniest line of the evening ("My one-year-old twins have the chicken pox. They look like they've been hunting with Dick Cheney."

"Darcy Burner has some serious support in this crowd, with lots of cheering and applause when she was announced.

Jim McDermott spoke truth to power, as usual.

Brian Baird had the funniest line of the evening ("My one-year-old twins have the chicken pox. They look like they've been hunting with Dick Cheney.")

Washington State Democrats are on fire this year. It was announced that in previous years, the most money raised by this crab feed was $43,000. Tonight they raised over $70,000.

Howard Dean is a ROCK STAR. The energy in the room, already high, went through the roof when he took the stageHe praised Governor Gregoire, stumped for Maria Cantwell, announced that the Democrats will not allow the Republicans use homosexuality as a wedge issue this year -- we are for the dignity and human rights of all Americans, gay or straight. He gave his five-point statement of Democratic values (honesty and integrity in government, health care for all Americans, new jobs, strong defense, quality public education), and passed along some encouraging special election results from Alabama, Mississippi, and Utah. When he finished, there was a crush of people waiting along the velvet rope to meet him."

1. Wow.
I loved him when he was my gov, and I have no words for how I feel about him now.

Who knew he'd inspire so many people all over the country?

2. Here's a good article from the Olympian....great crowd.
http://www.theolympian.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200660221008

"Dean, addressing the crowd, said the party’s new “50-state strategy” of campaigning in all states, not just swing states, already is paying off. He cited recent Democratic wins in local elections in traditionally Republican states.

“If we can win in Mississippi, Alabama and Utah, Democrats can win anywhere in America,” he said. “We’re not going to win in 2028 if we don’t go and stand there right now.”

‘Telling the truth’

Dean, addressing the perception of a lack of focus in the Democrat’s message, described a multipoint platform for Democrats, including a commitment to developing the renewable energy industry, a universal health care system and rebuilding national security by “telling the truth to our allies.”

“We will restore honesty and integrity to the United States of America,” he said, echoing George W. Bush’s promises to restore “honesty and integrity to the White House” during the 2000 campaign."

Sounds like over 1200 were there for that part of it.
