Assuming SPAM is legal, I have an idea -
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 08:47 PM by wiggle-room
First, I assume SPAM is legal for two reasons - I get a lot of it, and a summary of Federal SPAM laws doesn't seem to prohibit it:

------------
The Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act requires unsolicited commercial e-mail messages to be labeled (though not by a standard method) and to include opt-out instructions and the sender's physical address. It prohibits the use of deceptive subject lines and false headers in such messages. The FTC is authorized (but not required) to establish a "do-not-email" registry. State laws that require labels on unsolicited commercial e-mail or prohibit such messages entirely are pre-empted, although provisions merely addressing falsity and deception would remain in place. The CAN-SPAM Act took effect on January 1, 2004.

The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 was introduced by Senators Conrad R. Burns (R-MT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) in April 2003, with minor changes from the previous year's version, S. 630 (2002). Two other bills (S. 1231 and S. 1293) were subsequently merged into it. The final version was approved by the Senate in November 2003 and by the House of Representatives in December 2003, and was signed into law by President Bush on December 16, 2003.

------------

There are 12 states without state spam laws.

So, assuming SPAM is legal - not advocating anything illegal or that any laws should be broken - why don't we come up with a very well-crafted list of the most alarming bush crimes, and do so in the context of America's very essence being under fierce assault with the outcome uncertain, and each of us email every email address we have, and every email address we can get, this shocking and awakening message of truth? Let them know what's been done, what's being done to this country by the current regime, and what appears to be coming if we stay on the current path.

Have a link to for them to click that elaborates on these crimes and threats, and allows them to learn more or take action. And the message that the first thing to do would be to spam this to every email address they have or can get their hands on.

If its legal, why not take it to the people?

Just a thought.

1. Problem is, it isn't
sorry, and it was a fun thought to consider bombarding the world with the truth. But spam is illegal, and spam for a Dem cause is really sticking your neck out.

Think 'Corporate Responsibility' and think 'Martha Stewart'. She, a Dem, is the only person who saw jail time for corporate malfeasance during * Admin (i think).

Now think 'domestic spying' and how easy it is to confuse a Dem with Al Qaeda (Osama's well-timed messages tell us to do exactly what Bush opposes. Hm.) Think about how Ashcroft used the Patriot Act to get people for anything BUT terrorism.

Such a campaign is doomed from the start. It sets someone up for a big fall. Plus, spam is illegal. Even spam for a good cause is illegal.

2. are you sure its illegal?
all the people I get spam from are breaking the law?

Seriously, it can't be entirely illegal.

And it doesn't have to, and shouldn't be, from "Dems" per se.

It just seems like it would take off exponentially (if it took off).

Anyway, just thinking out loud.
