Empty promises - feds make little progress on Katrina recovery plans

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11065718/

Nearly five months after Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans, President Bush's lofty promises to rebuild the Gulf Coast have been frustrated by bureaucratic failures and competing priorities, a review of events since the hurricane shows.

While the administration can claim some clear progress, Bush's ringing call from New Orleans's Jackson Square on Sept. 15 to "do what it takes" to make the city rise from the waters has not been matched by action, critics at multiple levels of government say, resulting in a record that is largely incomplete as Bush heads into next week's State of the Union address

2. Unfortunately, the way that Bush spins this is that government is
ineffective, as a whole...

not his administration, its government thats the problem...lets get Halliburton to fix everything up just right, and all will be peachy-keen...yea, privitization rocks...
:sarcasm:

3. Berating LA elected reps for not coming up with a plan when they
have rejected the one so far.. my guess is because it wasn't neocon enough.

4. The writing's on the wall: You are on your own when disaster strikes
There is no excuse on the Goddess's green Earth for the drowning and abandonment of New Orleans. This is so completely un-American I just can't fathom it -- Bushco is driving this country into Third World status.

Everyone in the US lives in a potential natural disaster zone, from Tornado Alley to the San Andreas Fault, no one is exempt. When it happens to you or me, what the hell are we going to do?
