Gates gives $600m more to stop TB
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4653338.stm

The Global Plan to Stop Tuberculosis has received a $600m (£337m) boost from Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.

The campaign, backed by more than 400 organisations worldwide, aims to treat 50 million people in the next 10 years.

Launching the plan with UK Chancellor Gordon Brown and Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr Gates said it was a "chance to save 14 million lives".

1. Revenge of the Nerd
Go get 'em, Bill!

Windows may have some security problems, but Bill is a white knight when it comes to philanthropy.

4. I remember Ted Turner's donation to the U.N.
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 04:12 PM by architect359
That was a little while ago - I could be wrong, but I thought Turner pledged 1 Billion dollars to the U.N. to be spread over 10 years. Something to do about helping with costs. link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1083010.stm

Need more people like him. And (grudgingly) Bill G., too.

5. CNBC reported that Gates pledged 1 billion as well.
They also talked to him after the meeting.
