Wasn't There A HBO Show Called K-Street....
didn't Carville and Matalin star in it? I seem to recall that George Clooney was one of the producers of the show. Didn't the Senate Ethics committee refuse to let them film up on Capitol Hill? Didn't Santorum show up on this show? Didn't Clooney dis Abramoff the other night on the Golden Globes? Isn't Abramoff a lobbyist and wasn't political consultants and lobbyists the subject of the show K Street? How long did the show last? Why didn't it do well? Just trying to connect some dots here. Do you think that the show uncovered some problems on K Street?

1. The show lasted until the word 'subpoena' came up.
After that, it only lasted a few more episodes.

One of those things that makes you go hmmm.

No Second Season for K Street
Posted November 24, 2003

Daily Variey reports (11/24/03) that "HBO and Section Eight partners Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney have mutually decided to retire 'K Street'... HBO and the duo have agreed to return with another limited-run series to be shot in the same way but set in a different venue." http://www.hbo.com/kstreet/

3. Until the lobbying firm was under investigation
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 05:58 PM by Mabus
Carville's "man" Tommy was having an affair, Matalin's "woman" was stalking her former lesbian lover, the lobbying firm had to hire some mysterous guy who had some shady connections and Harold Gould's character was pulling the strings.

on edit: it lasted one HBO season, about ten shows. As to why it didn't last long, it was getting pretty stupid (see the above).

4. K Street was a pathetically bad show with no audience
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 06:03 PM by onenote
And that's why it was cancelled. It pulled in 3 million viewers its first week, largely because it followed Carnivale which pulled in 5 million. Within a couple of weeks its audience was down to under 2 million. By comparison, Sex and the City and Sopranos frequently pulled in as many as 10 million or more viewers and even Six Feet Under averaged over 2.5 million.

6. I didn't see much of it, but one of the things I recall...
Was Carville and Matalin discussing how they first met. She described him saying that he liked her boobs. He said that he thought he'd never met a woman more like his mother. I remember thinking that if that little exchange were true, it explained so very much about how and why the two of them hooked up. Uber-right "moral fiber" combined with JC's desire for a venomous bitch in his life.
