California governor admits he has no motorcycle license
:wtf: :spank:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/10/schwarzeneggar.license.ap/index.html

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle illegally over the weekend when he collided with a car in his Brentwood neighborhood, the Los Angeles Police Department said Tuesday.

Police Lt. Paul Vernon said Schwarzenegger does not have the proper motorcycle endorsement on his California driver's license, contradicting statements made by his spokeswoman since the Sunday accident that left the governor with 15 stitches in his upper lip.

5. I hope that he is appropriately fined
and that his motorcycle is confiscated until he is licensed.

It pisses me off that he has found ways to get around California laws that do not suit him. For example, he has a tent placed outside government offices, where he goes to smoke his cigars--thus getting around our no smoking laws. Just disgusting...

There was a newsreport stating there were more incidences of public smoking in restaurants and bars. The report seemed to believe this had a least a little to do with gov. musclehead.

6. And no brains, either.
I grant you that his movies are a matter of taste. Some like him, some don't. I don't.

But his politics suck, and they suck fiercely. I hope California voters turn away this guy in the fall. Go, California Democrats!

9. Great SNL "Weekend Update" line . . .
"California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's poll numbers have dropped drastically now that California voters realize that they elected Arnold Schwarzenegger to be their governor.

10. My $0.02 worth on the Governator...
I DO like a lot of his movies though not all - off the top of my head:

Terminator I and II were good.
Predator was a very good and original movie that I really like.
True Lies was a very good movie that I liked.

None of them are Casablanca or Gone With the Wind, but still pretty respectable action flicks.

His politics generally stink very badly (one might say like a cigar..) although he is more moderate than the GOP as whole with respect to issues like abortion, religion, and gun control.

To be fair for a moment, he has done good things for fitness programs and his work here is to be respected. America is getting more and more "supersized" every day and could use a little "pumping up" and fewer orders of fries...

His anti-paparazzi law is a good thing although it generally only applies to movie stars, music stars, athletes, and politicians as practical matter.

He obviously took steroids in his body building days and needs to do something to speak out against it more seriously now.

15. I have never been inspired to watch a Ahnold movie, except True Lies.
It sucked.

Steroids, though you may not get it, are no small trivial things.

He is a fucking right wing nutcase, and he is completely unqualified for the office he holds through the vast stupidity of the California constitution.

Like all fucking Repukes, he apparently has a problem with obeying the law.

Fuck him. When time comes for his liver transplant, he will waste a perfectly good liver.

17. Huh??
I don't take steroids, never have, never will and am highly opposed to anyone doing so. Not sure where you are going with this comment...

He certainly sucks as a governor. The question is would you trade the Governator for my governor: John Ellis Bush? Methinks it could be worse laddy...

His movies have a sense of humor and Arnold doesn't take himself seriously and can poke fun at his acting. Again he is no Robert DeNiro or anything but he does ok as an action or comedy actor.

18. Well, I can't judge his acting because I never saw any.
Therefore I am in the wrong.

From the trailers I saw, his movies were people killing people (as was True Lies, which I did see). These kinds of movies generally don't entertain me, although I will admit to watching historical war movies that make me think.

But I was harsh and I owe you an apology.

I just hate Schwartzenegger and all that he represents. I hate the entire Republican party. They have irreversibly destroyed my country. I'm very raw and can find no saving graces in any of them.

But again, I was wrong to come at you as I did and I hope you will find it in yourself to accept my apology.

19. No problems...
Of course action movies obviously involve violence often gratuitous violence - that doesn't make them bad for people as long as they realize that it is a fantasy and not real. In this regard, I think the DVD craze has been a good thing because they release a lot of "behind the scenes" documentaries on these movie DVD's that show how the movie was made. This peek behind the curtain helps the audience to understand that the violence is not real, it's just entertainment.

Some violent films of course are more serious and do have a message impact on the real world such as Saving Private Ryan, We were Soldiers or Gods and Generals, etc. While historical in nature, it is important to realize that they are actually adaptations of real events or fictionalizations of real events and take certain artistic liberties with history.

Violence in films is neither new nor an American invention. It dates at LEAST back to Shakespeare and no doubt into story telling around stone age campfires in antiquity. (I think of Henry V as a good Shakespearean play containing violence.)

The importance is in knowing the difference between movie violence and the real world.

To turn Shakespearian for a moment: be, then of good cheer.. this country is not "irreversibly destroyed", although it has been significantly damaged by Bush and the Republicans. Also, as much as I dislike Bush and the Republican crowd, I find that it is very helpful not to let my emotions get the best of me or to objectify my political opponents. It is much better to see them as a collection of fallible human beings with many many weaknesses and flaws and the occasional good point.

That said, let's work to kick'em out in 06 and 08!
