1. To my knowledge Clear Channel does not own Air America...

Some Air America shows are broadcast on Clear Channel stations however...here in DC that is the case!

8. Because Clear Channel owns 620.
It's real simple.

But, 620 does NOT own AAR.

After looking at 620's website I saw the

Apparently this has been discussed before. Not trying to rile anyone just trying to understand?

9. That's the radio station you are referring to
not Air America. Air America leases time from the radio station, not owned by Air America. Go to their website and see who actually OWNS it.

12. I get VERY suspicious when I read these threads...
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 04:35 PM by regnaD kciN
After all, it would be in the conservative movement's interest to undermine AAR by spreading disinformation to make progressives think it's a ClearChannel operation. If we were to shun AAR ("it turns out it's really part of ClearChannel!") and it were to fail because enough of us stopped listening, it would leave only one viewpoint in radio...and it sure wouldn't be ours.

11. In SF AAR is on a Clear Channel station
KQKE is a Clear Channel station, but they don't own AAR and neither does Clear Channel.

15. 620 is an affiliate station owned by CC. An AAR affiliate station
is a station, that may be owned by CC or anyone else, that plays programming from the AAR network. My local AAR affiliate is owned by Entercom. Since you are looking at 620 which is owned by CC it's logical that 620's website notes CC's copyright. Ownership of a local affiliate does not equate to ownership of AAR.

AAR is owned by Piquant, LLC, a privately held company.

radio stations , via some phone wire or satellite, and the locak radio stations have the final tall transmitter towers.

those local stations are owned by local guys, or sometimes by rich guys who own a chain of local stations with towers.
To make things even more complicated, the central AAR radio studio with a mike, is often not the real source of chatter/rant. Oft, the talker is in his hometown at a good mike there, and sends his words to the central AAR studio via some phone wire.

To the best of my knowledge, that is.

You have a right to ask here. I was a newbie once, as were we all once. Ask anytime.
