One talking point everyone alludes to
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 02:13 AM by aTm_exrugger
But no one seems to touch. I always hear about nixon tapping the phones of the civil rights and anti-war protesters, and now that the quakers and other such groups are being targeted by the FBI.

Just get out and ask it... DID BUSH SPY ON DEMOCRATS AND OTHER RIVAL GROUPS?

Look at the Polemic-Wing:
Ann Coulter titles a book called Treason
Micheal Savage routinely talks about 'sedition'
Mike Church (for those Sirius listeners) is a wanna be Savage, kind of sad actally.
Micheal Reagan was talking about Dean needs to be hung.
Need I say anything about HannityLimbaughOreillyElderBeckMedved?

Now lets say that Bush (or what they will say is an overzealous staffer) takes this seriously and thinks that the opposition is helping the terrorists. Then he can issue a wire tap on the DSCC, DNC, and anyone related to the democratic party. If they incidently hear political brainstorming, then oh well. Part of the job.

edit: I know I am not the first person to think about this, but work has kept me away from my lurking duties. The 6-pack of beer has brought me out to post.

1. Well, not quite
What they are actually talking about is not people like Nancy Pelosi talking to Zarqawi on the phone or whatever. Usually the "sedition" they are talking about is more about the policies they advocate being inherently treasonous.

So if he is wiretapping the opposition, it could not be because they were talking to terrorists or plotting. It would be a criminal act.

2. Let me clarify
I know that Pelosi, Reid or who ever does not regularly have conference calls with bin laden and Zarqawi. Hopefully the other side knows it too.

It was a little tongue in cheek about bush and his policies.
- You are for us or against us.
- How staffers always take the fall for the accountability president
- How some people (like some of my family) actually think that the democrats are actively plotting the downfall of the US.

But then again for a court who has apparently rejected a half dozen requests out of tens of thousands, and FISA is a synonym for rubber stamp, what made those thirty so special? and why didn't they trumpet their success if it stopped another attack?

3. Good Clarification
I am not sure. Do you think they know if they have even stopped an attack or not?

5. You're absolutely right, aTM!
It's critical to get the list of people spied on, for I'm sure it contains Democratic leaders, Michael Moore-types, blog writers, etc. Until that list is seen, they can always claim they're only investigating terrorists, the wiretaps are important for security, blah blah. What would it take to get ahold of it though?! There's the national security, classified status, executive privilege, presidential prerogative and whatever other reasons they can dream up to protect it. I'm praying that some whistleblower sneaks out a copy. The whole cabal would crumble then.
