Rasmussen. 12/12. Likely Voters. MoE 4.5% (No trend lines)

Corker (R) 36
Ford (D) 42

Bryant (R) 41
Ford (D) 38

Hilleary (R) 41
Ford (D) 39

Nathiel Ament Stone has analysis here.

Those numbers are encouraging for the person who would be filling the seat voided by Bill Frist ( :puke: )

1. I hope so!
Whether Ford or Kurita I'd take it. I just hope they aren't going to be another Lieberman.

2. Go, Harold Ford, Jr.
Yeah, call him a DINO but I think if you get him into the Senate, he'll be more Gore than Lieberman.

4. Ford supporting us 75% of the time is a hell of alot better
than another Frist that supports us 0% of the time.

If Ford can win all the better!

20. That is true
And I believe he does listen to people too. I remember he voted against CAFTA and he told how a mother/daughter came to visit him and talked to him about it and what they said helped him to change his mind. Better than Frist doing Bush's bidding and sending you copy and paste Emails and letters.

6. In that Jean Schmidt/Murta-Coward kerfuffle,
it was Harold Ford that got completely enraged and flew at her apparently!

One could love him just for that! I mean, to absolutely lose it, when someone else is being is vilified, is amazing...

3. Heard good things about Ford
Heard he's considered a "rising star" in the Democratic Party. So those numbers are encouraging.

9. Yeah I do remember that now
And he is a hero for that alone. I suppose it's good that he never made contact, but it would have certainly been short term satisfaction.

7. The voters of Tennessee will continue to elect the person who will screw
Tennesseans the most IMHO: just look at who Tennesseans have elected to the Senate for the past twenty or so years.

13. Al Gore and Jim Sasser?
Uhhhh... as a Tennessean, I challenge you to prove this "past 20 years or so" bullshit.

Frist and Thompson were elected during the Republican Congressional take-over under Clinton, which was about 10 - maybe 12 years ago.

Before that, our senators were Democrats Al Gore and Jim Sasser.

And, on top of that, we currently have a Democratic governor.

:eyes:

14. My time-frame was obviously in grievous error. Frist, Alexander, Thompson
and Brock come to mind in the Senate and Marsha Blackburn in the House is the most flagrant example of someone whose every vote is inimical to the interest of by far the most of her constituents. Bredesen could be elected governor only by promising no income tax although this is egregiously inimical to the interests of by far most Tennesseans: as an example only and not to pick on athletes, we have two professional ball teams in Tennessee where the average salary is likely way up in seven figures, but those athletes pay little more in taxes to Tennessee than most of us other than for the luxury cars, boats, jewelry, etc. they buy in Tennessee. ;)

17. Who's the second?
The Titans and who else?

And, sorry to jump you. There is so much South-bashing on this board, I get my dander up to easily when it comes to my home state.

The problem with Bredesen isn't that he had to promise no income tax, it's that Tennesseans don't understand how much better they'd fare thanks to our mostly lousy media in this state. :) (And I used to BE media in this state, so I can speak to that issue.)

who spew incessant lies IMHO. ;)

10. Normally, I hate corporatists, but Ford is moving more and
more away from that aspect of the DLC while still remaining moderate enough to win in Tennessee. His latest rants on out-sourcing and the need for a new direction in Iraq has endeared him to me very much.

I'm all for him!

24. Good
I'm glad to hear that he's moving away from the corporations. Even though I'm not a total huge Ford fan I think he does have potential. And he supported Kerry in the primaries so he has good taste. ;)

Sorry, but that's not much of a "win" in my book. It's not even a Democrat in my book.

19. Seems a couple of folks from TN posted that he's moving away
and if he has a "D" next to his name that's a major improvement. What you want a republican to fill the seat? Geez!

25. I would rather have a "d"
who at least listen's to you. Right now with the republican party I wouldn't trust them. If I did the only other person I would like to see having that seat is Corker. But than again he might become another Frist someday (even though he once called First a cat killer heh heh).

26. I'd carry several cans of Lysol
before sitting in the seat Frist voided.
I hate to say "it can't be worse" but, really, could we have anyone worse than Frist? He is such a Bush lap-dog. They use him to carry out their dirty work and he expects they'll reward him later! Ha! What a dunce - they'll drop his sorry beeehind the second he's no longer in a position to lap-sit for them. He'll wonder what's going on as they nominate anyone but him for Prez in '08.

27. Holy shit!
That's a lot closer than I would have expected.

I'm not the biggest fan of Ford. In fact, I don't really like his politics very much, but if I were in TN I'd get my ass to the booth to vote for him, even if I had to hold my nose.
