Poll question: A poll to determine who gets the point
I know that since this is a presidential election year, and since Bush is downright evil, all eyes are fixed on the presidential race. In MY opinion, this is just what the RW wants. Because while we're all focusing on the white house, the right wing is kicking the living CRAP out of us at every other level. Last year, the RW manipulated a local activist group, The Durham Committee for the Affairs of Black People so that it endorsed a conservative candidate for city council instead of the progessive candidate.

They did this by having numerous members of the committee switch their affiliation to Republican, at which time they were immediately appointed precinct chair and officer positions which were the criteria for eligibility to vote for an endorsement.

The Right Wing is poised to kick our asses all over the place. They've pretty much guaranteed themselves control of the house for the next decade, if not more, and they have great strength at the local level. So the question is, do you know the name of your county party chair? The name of your precinct officers? Do you hold a position in the precinct? Do you attent countywide D party meetings?

If we're not prepared to fight at every level, winning the white house will be moot.

1. My area is Solid Dem
It's a fight between Greens and Reps for #2. At the state level though the %^$$#^s Reptiles have taken over and really screwed up things.

2. I don't think our county has precinct-level officers
But I know who's who in the county and state leadership. I don't have a position. If I did, I would have probably had to resign it when Vince ran for office (because by charter, county officers aren't allowed to publically endorse anyone in a contested primary).

I have attended at least one county meeting, fundraiser or other function in four area counties in the last few months. Sometimes more.

5. Our local Dems
aren't set up by counties, but by individual cities and towns. From there, there are the ward committees.

I am the vice chair of my local city Democratic Committee.
