1. WTF?
I didn't see anything about a genome project. Did you post the wrong link?

2. Nope
It's like a satirical post on my part.

I figured if anyone personified the lack of the "ethics" gene (I made it up), it would be Novak, if such a gene does exist.

;)

3. Sadly, that retreat
really isn't about maintaining or restoring ethical standards. It's about how to appear to be ethical in order to stay in power. I do think it's funny that that Schmidt lady from Ohio will be challenged in the repuke primary-apparently that's what the GOPers do when their plans backfire. You know if she'd gotten nothing but cheers she would have been the GOPer darling.

4. Yea, that pretty much characterizes them and is so ironic
at the same time.

They are SO spin oriented, so not issue-oriented, not ethically oriented.

So when they have a so called Ethics conference, it is all about spinning and how to appear ethical.

Must be hard to know how to "appear" to be something, ethical, which is such an alien concept to them.

Must be a very basic discourse, spelling out each activity that is unethical. Then they have to figure out how to not appear to be doing those things in the list.

They will need a hotline so confused neocons can call and check their every move with someone who actually grasps the concept of ethics.

(Reminds me, I heard Michael Schiavo on Ed Shultz the other day, he's starting a PAC and wants to help defeat DeLay among others.)

5. The might be something like an empathy gene though

or perhaps a genetically based anti-empathy syndrome. Things related to autism (but not the same as) and super males like XYY

6. Yea, the super male XYY that is characteristic of some very
violent offenders.

You never know, there are so many genes. There may be some that predispose a person to being ethical or not being ethical, with the final outcome determined by nurture, environment, and who knows what else.
