7. And a pretty good one.

Divide and conquer.

Most dems are in agreement with Murtha's goals, I would imagine, but I am not sure there will be an agreement with the specifics of the withdrawal. Without a vote, they could have stuck together on these bases. What will happen if it actually goes to a vote?

14. Imagine that Politicians doing "politics" in a Legislative body.
What will they think of next? Guess "politics as practiced in DC is an obscenity.

2. That will be interesting for the least.
Not sure what this would do if it happens, though.

3. this could be very interesting
So, the GOP is going to introduce a proposal for immediate withdrawal? Am I getting this right?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if it passes?

17. not a chance
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 02:40 PM by Strawman
not a chance this would pass right now. It sure would be nice if all the Dems got behind it, but they won't, and it wouldn't pass right now even if they did.

That's fine too. they think they can use this in 2006 to say the Dems were for the war too, but the public isn't that stupid. They know that * and the Republicans bear the responsibility for this war. They'll be held accountable and they won't be running against Democratic incumbents in their respective districts. This could come back to bite them in the ass big time.

6. "Cut and run"? Try "cease and desist"...
What we've done to Iraq is criminal. Might as well use the proper terminology.

9. WONDERFUL . . .
. . . let's see which Democrats are willing to go on record, right now. Gut check time, I'll give my time and my money to whoever sides with Murtha!!!!!! Those who don't, both Republican and Democrat, will be called into question.

10. The dems should tell them they do not make symbolic votes or play politics

regarding our troops who are putting their lives on the line. This is not a game. Either the vote counts and the resolution moves forward on withdrawing our troops or they are going home for Thanksgiving.

12. If we could LOUDLY urge our reps to stand together . . .
. . . and support Murtha's bill, this could build momentum into a real movement. The time is now. Urge you congresscritters to support Murtha's bill! If we got some Republicans on board - this could be a slam dunk.

. . . well, once can dream!

13. This would be a perfect opportunity..
... for a party line vote. But you watch, half the Dems "have a problem" with that or whatnot. Another year, they'll be saying "I should have voted for it".

I'm getting tired.

20. Shameful that they want to make a political game out of it - but I do
wonder what amendments could be tacked on? What would the ReThugs NOT want to vote No on that could be added? That would make them look really stupid/selfish for blocking if they tried to prevent it being added to the vote?

21. How do they dare play politics with the life of the troops.
If they believe it is wrong, they should not take the risk it passes.
