She said someone has to stay in the Senate and make sure they do their jobs. I completely support her decision, as she's one of the few Senators who votes consistently like a Democrat.

I really envisioned Clark/Boxer as a dream ticket. . .

if I have to surrender Boxer. . .I'm starting to like the sight of Clark/Reid lately. . .

All three of them have such eyeball-to-eyeball perseverance and refreshing candor. . .they are our only

2008 hope

27. but, see ... give Wes 4 years as VP to grow ...
... and become a household name across America ... and in 2012, he can run (I don't see Gore running for re-election, for some wierd reason. I think he'll just want ONE term to show everyone who voted for Dingbat in 2000 what dumbfucks they were)... then we can look forward to 8 years of peace and prosperity President Clark, after 4 years of rebuilding under President Gore. :)

6. I *LOVE* Clark and voted for him in the 2004 primaries....
but I think Mark Warner is the best shot we have at taking back the
white house in 08. He is the governor of a very conservative state and remains popular there. We need a governor not another senator. The last senator elected to the presidency was JFK in 1960. That's a hell of a long time and I believe a governorship would better prepare someone.

Remember that the last two Democratic presidents were governors of
southern states. It shouldn't matter, but it does to a lot of peole. I don't think we can go wrong with Warner.

consideration..she is one of the few Democrats in Washington that tell it like it is and put the Republicans in their place..
She is focused on the issues and would certainly help "mend America" from the damage the Republican corruption has caused.

19. Same old, same old.
First of all, let's at least wait until after the 2006 election. And then let's look far and wide for some energetic Democrat out there who would actually inspire people.

Had she not been born in Canada, Jennifer Granholm, currently governor of Michigan would be a wonderful choice. Kathleen Sebelius, governor of Kansas is another bright and wonderful Democrat, but Kansas needs here too much.

Remember that the reason we got Bill Clinton, one of the best presidents ot there, was because in 1991 after the first Gulf War, none of the same old same old candidates of that decade was willing to challenge the first Bush. There is absolutely no way of predicting or knowing what's going to happen in the next couple of years.

58. So true.
The idiocy of some of the inherent American traits is tiresome: the winner-take-all madness focuses so many on the presidency, as if that's the only thing that matters. We have a star culture, and this blinds people to the reality of power.

Take the House in '06 and there's a reasonable future for us.

Maybe the Senate's possible too, but the House is REALLY possible.

Whether the stodgy bigotry of this country is able to be overcome enough to elect a woman outright is another matter. I still don't think that a black, a jew or a woman can be elected anytime soon, much as I'd love to be proved wrong in every case.

While you're on the subject, though, don't forget Jan Schakowsky; she's a gem.

Oh, how I'd love a Gore/Clark ticket! President Gore should get a chance at long last to sit in the Oval Office he earned back in 2000. Teaming Gore with Clark, we'd have a pair of lions with sharp minds and big hearts fighting for our country.

44. gore/dean
gore, because he is totally aware of everything we are facing, and is smart enough to start to deal with it, and dean as his vp.

dean has already re-invigorated the grass roots and shown that funding doesn't have to be exclusively the big money's domain.

dean would have 8 years as vp, then 8 more as pres.

by then, MAYBE we would have started to regain the ground we have lost in the last 40 years.

americans are going to have to be re-educated. the media's place in america is going to have to be redefined. they are going to fight it tooth and nail. this is going to take a while.

gore/dean could do it.

just my hope....

He didn't want to run for president because he'd have to spend years campaigning, and his job as DNC chair would not allow him to do that.

60. YOU need to read a little closer
gore stated he had no present plans for running, was retired from politics, but would not address his plans for the future.

gore deserves to be wooed by his party, which we are in the process of doing. if we are strong enough, he will respond. after what his party leaders did to him in 2000, it is the absolute least that he deserves.

if gore asked dean to be his vp, anything dean said previously is irrelevant. dean WOULD jump at it.

a dream ticket, the front man who is deserving, intelligent enough to see the BIG picture and address it, and no longer a hack of the dlc, and his backup, who is deserving, intelligent, tells it like it is (refreshingly honest), and recreated root politics.

i am paying VERY close attention, thank you.

47. I'd like to see Gary Hart make a comeback.
I've been very impressed with his writing lately. Admittedly there is that old sex scandal but once all the old Monkey Business jokes are done with he's a serious guy, still good looking and very articulate. He also has lots of foreign policy and defense expertise and has thought long and hard about how to fight terrorism.

My second choice is Al Gore provided that someone has taught him how to act like a human being on TV.

I'm a little surprised in this one that Kerry has more votes than Edwards. I thought Edwards would give him more competition for second place. Hopefully Clark will pull away even further.

Too bad we couldn't also have some type of poll where people could vote for a first choice and a second choice. My second choice after Clark would be Hillary.

But I just went back to 1992....and I am sorry to report that 2008 won't be a 1992 election redux.....

So for those Dems who can only come up with a moderate governor from a red state as a plausible candidate, my understanding is that Ross Perot ain't gonna run in 2008 to siphon off GOP votes, and national security will still be an issue aka the GOP's trump card.
