Bad Timing!!!
Things have never been worse for this administration, yet it all is coming down halfway between elections.

Novemeber 2nd is this week, just a few days after the worst week in Bush's Presidency, yet there are no elections.

Is anyone else annoyed by this?

1. Yup.
Wish this was 2006 instead of 2005. People have such short memories.

2. Could you be more negative, please?
Has it occured to you that this thing is gaining traction? That Fitz may well have Conspiracy idnictments before mid-terms? That joe sixpack hasn't heard enough about Plame etc. YET to sway him?

5. I never said I didn't think things would get worse, but...

I do want to see * and Cheney gone as soon as possible. Not having an election this year, when things are currently at their worst, makes us all have to wait another year.

Sorry. I realize I pointed out the obvious, but it still sucks.

3. There are some off-year elections in VA and elsewhere,
and more importantly, a lot of the stuff that started this week will require many months to reach full effect. The Libby trial for example, will not start for quite a while. Rove is still in Fitz' crosshairs. The much-vaunted Iraqi constitution will do nothing to quell the rebellion, and this will become clear only over time. These things marinate slowly, and our position by election time will be worse (for the country and the GOP) and better (for national clarity and the Dems). It's excellent timing.

11. Hoping
From your post I clipped a few of your points and added what I think of them

Good for Democrat elections
Hoping for a Libby trial.
Hoping for Rove is still in Fitz' crosshairs.

Bad for Democrat elections
Hoping the much-vaunted Iraqi constitution will do nothing
Hoping that quelling the rebellion fails

Hoping for the US to lose isn't good. Hoping for more US deaths isn't good. I know it's not how you think, probably, but we need to stay careful to distinguish what we hope to have happen and what we fear will continue to happen. (If we think elections count)

12. Thanks, I was trying to think of a way to distinguish that better.
We HOPE the already-committed crimes result in trials and punishments.

We fear the consequences of those crimes, and those yet to be committed.

We offer hope to the nation as the party that can clean up this mess.

4. We have an election here
in our city. Repub woman running against dem male mayor. She's promising more cops, but doesn't say where the money is coming from. She's slick, I'll give her props for that. Our newspaper endorsed her. Our mayor called them on it, saying that last week they were praising him for some of the things he's been able to do here.

One of the big fights here is a new huge mall. She just wants to say yes to it, he's been dragging his feet because the builders want everything to their advantage and he wants to make sure that the city won't get hurt by it. God, I hope she doesn't win.
