Doonesbury - the Unpublished Miers comics
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 07:34 PM by Neil Lisst
Gary Trudeau had to pull his scheduled Harriet Miers' stuff, and it is available for your reading pleasure at his site.

3. I enjoyed them, too.
For Neil Lisst comic, we had done several Miers ideas. We were even going to use her actual note to Bush. But that's all gone now, in our pile of partly done comics.

I find they're like writing songs or poetry. Sometimes they just pop out perfectly, flawlessly, and others, it just never quite closes. I had a poem that took me ten years to finish, and I still don't like the ending.

6. I had a college creative writing mentor
who told me that if I ever came to like the whole of anything I wrote or lost the drive to rewrite or re-edit that I should ball it up and throw it away.

A good work grows with you and remains close to your "being". Satisfaction = Abandonment.

7. I used to compulsively rewrite, but now ...
but now I have more a feeling that completeness and time go together. However, we sometimes go back and change one after publication because something about it bugs us.

If Neil Lisst's hat shadow isn't right, it bugs hell outta me.
