Bush: "I'm going to comment on it. Fine-looking shades you got there."
THE PRESIDENT: So I want to thank -- again, thank the members of the Cabinet. I'll be glad to answer a couple of questions.

Nedra.

Q Thank you, Mr. President. You said several weeks ago that Special Counsel Peter Fitzgerald was handling the CIA leak investigation in a very dignified way. Yet some of your Republican supporters have recently suggested he may be an overzealous prosecutor, or one obsessing over legal technicalities. Have you revised you thinking on this issue?

THE PRESIDENT: Nedra, I also said -- this may be the fourth time I've been asked about this, which I appreciate, you're doing your job -- I'm not going to comment about it. This is a very serious investigation, and I haven't changed my mind about whether or not I'm going to comment on it publicly.

Fine-looking shades you got there.

Q Thanks, Mr. President. Bono style. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: Wait a minute, you don't need to be endorsing any products here in the Cabinet -- (laughter.)

3. I'm sick to death of the buddy buddy crap that goes on here
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 12:42 PM by Bob3
on both sides. There was no reason for * to talk about the shades but worse off is the press guy's reaction - shit do your job and stop trying to make friends with the ape.

edit - can't spell when I'm angry. Or when I'm not angry for that matter.

7. Definitely agree
that the press looks stupid laughing at shrub's dumbass jokes. They've been kissing his ass since 9/11 and now have the perfect opportunity to take off the gloves and throw some real punches.

Who the hell is Peter Fitzgerald? What does it say about the Washington press corpse that they can't even get the guy's name right. Cripers.

6. There is a Peter Fitzgerald (no relation) but Pickler is not too sharp
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 12:40 PM by emulatorloo
Read about Peter Fitzgerald and Patrick Fitzgerald here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A55560-2005Feb1?language=printer

back in a sec w a snip - sadly 4 paragraph limit cuts off the payoff (fitz is modern day elliot ness), so read the article if you haven't already:

<snip>

The Untouchable

Fitzgerald frequently makes crime-fighting headlines in Chicago, where he took over the U.S. attorney's office just 10 days before 9/11. What's surprising is that he got the job at all. A New Yorker born and bred, Fitzgerald knew hardly a soul in Chicago, which was precisely the idea. Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (no relation) was looking for an outsider to battle the state's notoriously corrupt political apparatus.

The recently retired Illinois Republican tells a story about back in Al Capone's day, when Col. Robert McCormick, the imperious publisher of the Chicago Tribune, called FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and demanded that he send someone to Chicago who could not be bought.

Hoover sent the untouchable Eliot Ness.

Now, as then, the U.S. attorney's job has the gloss of patronage. The late Chicago mayor Richard J. Daley used to say the U.S. attorney in Chicago is one of the three most important people in the state, and Peter Fitzgerald said he wanted "someone who couldn't be influenced either to prosecute someone unfairly or protect someone from being prosecuted unjustly."

8. Right, but Nedra clearly got them mixed up
therefore my question. It would explain a lot of it turned out that most of the press corpse was just as stupid as most of Bushco. Or stupider, if that's possible.

10. Her coverage of 04 election was dim-witted, if we are being charitable
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 01:14 PM by emulatorloo
If we're not being charitable, then I would say her 04 election coverage was all about making Dems and Kerry seem totally awful vs the wonderous exalted Bush.
