Frist: Federal Probe of Stock Sale Will Affect Decision on Whether
to Run for President in 2008

DES MOINES, Iowa Oct 23, 2005 — Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says
a federal investigation into his sale of stock in a family-owned
hospital chain will affect his decision on whether he will seek the
presidency in 2008.

Frist, R-Tenn., said Saturday during a visit to Iowa site of the
nation's first presidential caucuses that he has not lost the public's
trust and wants people to "wait for the facts before passing judgment."

The Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating Frist's sale
of millions of dollars of stock in HCA, the Nashville-based hospital
chain founded by his father and brother. The sales were completed by
July 1, two weeks before share prices fell by 9 percent. Frist has
denied he acted on insider information.

2. He hasn't lost our trust? Remember the nuclear option?
"Oh, oh, oh, yes, I'm the great pretender. Wearing my mask like a crown," or something like that.

4. Don't think he would mess with the "nuclear" option anymore
due to his getting spanked by investigations.

5. Don't know why. Didn't hurt *'s 2000 or 2004 plans.
* did the same thing, actually worse because he was on the board of directors and had actually reviewed the financial information himself, with Harken stock.

7. Gee, out-and-out corruption is disqualifying now?
Sure never hurt Chimpy. But if it torpedos Frist's aspirations, I'm in favor of it.

9. Poor Martha Frist!
At least he's got a future in show business: he could play undertakers and humorless yes-men.
