No Final Report Seen in Inquiry on C.I.A. Leak

By DAVID JOHNSTON
and RICHARD W. STEVENSON
Published: October 19, 2005

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 - The special counsel in the C.I.A. leak case has told associates he has no plans to issue a final report about the results of the investigation, heightening the expectation that he intends to bring indictments, lawyers in the case and law enforcement officials said yesterday.

The prosecutor, Patrick J.Fitzgerald, is not expected to take any action in the case this week, government officials said. A spokesman for Mr. Fitzgerald, Randall Samborn, declined to comment.

A final report had long been considered an option for Mr. Fitzgerald if he decided not to accuse anyone of wrongdoing, although Justice Department officials have been dubious about his legal authority to issue such a report.

By signaling that he had no plans to issue the grand jury's findings in such detail, Mr. Fitzgerald appeared to narrow his options either to indictments or closing his investigation with no public disclosure of his findings, a choice that would set off a political firestorm.

1. Who are those "government officials" who don't "expect"

indictments this week? Methinks they're in the White House hoping against hope that they don't receive one...and isn't "a choice that would set off a political firestorm" kind of editorializing...?

2. It'll be Halloween.
Both because it's appropriate to catch ghouls that day, and because it maximizes the time Fitz has to write lots of indictments.

3. The Shadow govenment doing damage control? Me thinks so...
I know it's tinfoil hattish, but I think that Fitzgerald is uncovering so much crap, that he essentially could bring the Executive Branch to it's knees. The Globalist Elite (aka Shadow World Government) can't allow that much instability to occur in the U.S. right now, especially during war. Maybe. I don't know, but it's my guess that Fitzgerald will be forced to only choose a few minor players to indict, like Libby and Rove, but not the whole Administration.

Just my hunch and I will now remove my tinfoil hat...

7. I wonder what kind of "news dump" the WH and media are planning
in an attempt to crowd out the announcement of Fitzgerald's indictment(s)? That is, if there are indeed any indictments. (excuse me while I laugh.)

I'm not sure that it would make much difference, but If I were Fitzgerald, I'd lead the media to believe I was making my announcement at one time, then spring it on them at another.

I don't see how anything is going to divert from this. But I'm sure they'll try.

9. One would assume..
.... that Fitzgerald is not really interested in anyone knowing his time line. I don't expect anything at any particular time, and I don't think we'll really know until maybe hours before it actually happens.
