Democratic contract
We need a democratic contract with America.....but not by that name, of course. They need to stick by it, regardless of what republicans think and say, which will be nothing but insults and smears. It needs to address everything america is tired of.,....which happens to be everything Bush has done so far. America has rejected the right wing agenda. We need a solid alternative.

Stop robbing SS
Guarenteed minimim level of health care for all AMericans
No more no bid contracts
No more privatized military (war for profit)
Balanced Budget
Balanced budget amendment except in time of UNAVOIDABLE national crisis
...
...
..these are merely suggestions....its the concept that is important..

The time is ripe......

1. Better yet!
Instead of "contract with America" how about "Covenant With America"?

2. or "promise to the American people"
And we have to follow thru with it......not use it as a dupe to get elected as the GOP did when the 104th reich came in....

3. Can't be copycats, but how about a "shadow government?"
It's something Howard Dean wondered about out loud during his appearance on Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" -- in a somewhat condescending tone, mind you -- when Jon said he didn't know why the Dems weren't making their alternatives more clearly known.

Yeah, calling it a "Shadow Gov't" would invite some (justified) ridicule, but that could just be shorthand.

Jist of it should be, This Is What We Would Do. This Is What We Will Do.

And I like all your suggestions; and I'd add raising the minium wage and then indexing it to some reliable COLA metrics.

5. Yes!...I've always been a proponent of a Shadow Government...
it grooms people for eventual cabinet positions and it puts a focused voice/face out front to the people.

4. Government stay OUT of private life
Right to choose contraception, right to die, and right to civil contracts.
