Too much chaos...no one can control it....
For those people that have thought of Karl Rove as some type of superhero, they can now put that idea in the garbage can. Karl can't even control his own problem - let alone the Lewis Libby-Judy Miller story - or the Meirs nomination, or Bush's low poll numbers, or any of the other myriad of scandals and problems facing this Adminsitration. There are just too many irons in the fire. Too much shit is happening. It's chaotic. They have created many of the problems to keep their opponents off balance and it appears it has come back and bit them in the ass real hard...

2. This spiraling out of control is very common with con artists and
white collar criminals. They develop these elaborate cons that depend on people not knowing (except insiders) what is actually going on. As more and more people start to realize they are being conned, swindled, cheated or lied to, the insiders have to spend more and more times, covering up, reassuring and lying even more. As these new cover ups and lies become obvious they start losing track of what they said to whom and have to spend even more time, making up lies and reassuring people.

Eventually, (on small scale cons) the authorities catch on (from all the complaints and only after thousands have lost their money) set up stings, investigate or audit the books. The problem here is that the people who are being conned are the same people who are going to have to investigate, set up the sting or audit the books. In some cases insiders involved in the con, are the people who will have to investigate as well.

Anyway, we are at the spiraling out of control part of this con. This administration will have to spend more and more time, reassuring people, lying to them and covering up their illegal actions. That is why the government is so dysfunctional. They don't have time for any thing but the cover up.

Let's hand out the popcorn.

4. While people die
"Let's hand out the popcorn."

I read that, and I don't disagree with you. What makes this all so crazy is how it's leaving us unprepared for not just one, but a list of difficulties sure to be confronting the US, and the world as well. We in the US have recently, graphically, been shown that we've basically lost our nation. We know, now, how much this corrupt admin is willing to cost us, the lives ruined and lost needlessly in Katrina and the floods. Then Rita, shamelessly used as "we done better this time", when it really wasn't, and we watch these ordinary Americans that "might not be able to declare bankruptcy", "might not ever be able to move back", and personally I wonder how many ways that might happen to my family. It seems like, on top of the oil and global warming issue worries, food and pollution issues, that there's a terrible natural disaster every other week, the kinds that kill people and ruin millions of dollars of human construction. And then a pandemic flu, maybe, if they aren't lying about it, and did I mention depleted uranium ...damn, forget the popcorn and just hand out the beer, you know what I mean?

3. THere is one thing we can do.
We can convince AMericans that the Right lies all the time and are therefore not credible. And if they're not credible, they're not fit to lead.

6. I remember how devastated we all were when we were robbed
again back in November. To console ourselves many of us predicted that the Repubs would implode on themselves. It is gratifying in some aspects to watch it happen, yet hard to see the human suffering their incompetence has caused. I only hope that the people remember their "leaders" the next time they get the opportunity to vote.
