6. You're allowed to try and discredit your political opponents

It's just when you use classified information to do it that it becomes illegal. This is a classic example of hubris. They thought that they were above the law and for a time it seemed that they were but not anymore.

Perhaps they found a way around the Intelligence Identities Act but if they received the info about Plame from a classified document (State Department Memo) and spread this info around then they violated federal laws. Felonies, people. The whole organized effort to do so is a criminal conspiracy.

We are in for some lovely indictments. :popcorn:

I know that they were also sending a message to any other potential whistleblowers and exacting revenge on Wilson. But I was arguing against their defense of it as it's ok to try and discredit him and that it was all politics as usual.
