DURHAM, N.C. - A mayoral candidate whose criminal past surfaced recently has abandoned his race.

Vincent Brown, the only Republican in the race, has been charged more than 100 times in the past 15 years and pleaded guilty to 46 charges. Some of the charges included promoting the prostitution of a minor, driving while impaired, assault and writing worthless checks. He served five months in prison for felony forgery.

15. yikes he has a "plead guilty 3 times a year" rate over the past 15 yrs.
were the charges and pleas evenly distributed. If not - he had a few earlier years with a heck of a lot of "plead guilties" before "going baptist minister" (presuming that is the order of events.) Okay - convert and suddenly all 5 or more plea bargains a year are absovled and no indication of potential future ethical (or worse) problems :eyes:

12. And yet we are constantly told to reach across the aisle to these people.
The only thing I'd reach across an aisle to do to this man is either cuff him or bitch slap him.

This guy is probably the only Republican in Durham, except for the Duke students. Most pubes live in the county.

Milde addresses his '86 drug conviction
Date published: 9/16/2005

By RUTH FINCH

In the past 20 years, Paul Milde has gone from drug-addicted felon in the Prince William County Jail to father of two, successful entrepreneur and Republican nominee for a seat on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.

snip

Milde was convicted of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in 1986. He was 18 years old and had just graduated from high school.

snip

He was sentenced to six years in prison, five suspended, but served only 12 weeks in the county jail before he was released on parole.

snip But that's not all folks!

In 1994, he was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of burglary tools and accessory after the fact to an attempted burglary. :wtf: OVER

Milde said those charges stemmed from his role as a mentor in Narcotics Anonymous. One of his proteges confessed to him an attempted burglary. But when the police asked him for information, he said he could not in good conscience give it because the support group is anonymous. :puke:

snip There's even MORE!!!

Milde's criminal record also includes nine traffic tickets, most for speeding, since 1992. Three were dismissed, two resulted in acquittals and four led to convictions, including a 2000 reckless driving charge for going 95 mph in a 65 mph zone. The last traffic conviction was in 2004.

Yes, fellow DUers, this Republican Stafford supervisor hopeful is most likely going to nab the Aquia District. Why? Heaven knows save for they're chock full of morans?

Alas CORRUPTION, thy party's name is *Republican*!!!

Oh! Here's the link because otherwise you'd all swear that I'm making this stuff up ... kind of reads like a cheap novel?
