Poll question: Dems ahead by 12 points in 2006 races. Good News or S.T.F.U.?
Poll: Fifty percent would vote in Democrat for Congress

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Poll_Fifty_percent_would_vote_for_Democra_0917.html

A post-Katrina poll published in last Monday's newstand edition of Newsweek (PRNewswire link) contains heartening news for Democrats, RAW STORY has discovered. Just fourteen months before the Congressional elections, Democrats have opened up a 12 point lead over their GOP rivals.

The Republicans currently maintain a 232-to-202 advantage over the Republicans. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is the only Independent Congressman, and he usually sides with the Democrats.

A few days ago The Washington Times reported that Independent election tracker Stuart Rothenberg, in his political newsletter, wrote that "with President George W. Bush's job ratings battered by the war in Iraq, high gas prices and public dissatisfaction with the state of the economy, 2006 looks to be a golden opportunity for House Democrats."

Democrats could win back control of the House that they lost in 1994 with a net gain of 15 seats.

4. At some point Diebold will be unable to cover the point spread
what do you think the number is? What I mean is when will it become so obvious that the numbers have been finagled that even the dense will realize it?

6. Great news.
build the momentum. The popular-opinion favoring sheeple will continue to mosey on over. Very encouraging for dems... envisioning a sweep of landslides. If we kick their asses bad enough even diebold wont be able to help (as rzemanfl pointed out in #4).

9. It shouldn't be encouraging - it should be MOTIVATING...
...that is, it should motivate us to FIGHT EVEN HARDER.

If we're losing, fight hard. If we're winning, fight even harder.

7. What is S.T.F.U.?
Really, the use of acronyms on DU has gotten so bad that it is hard to understand what folks are talking about half the time.

Furthermore, if the Dems are ahead in the polls, they will decide that they should 'protect' their lead. They will get cautious and they will think it is smart politics to start trying to appeal to 'moderate' Republicans. Before you know it they will sound even more like 'moderate' Republicans than they do now and voters will shrug and just vote Republican.

11. Other: We don't do things that way
Just because a majority of the country says that we should have a Democratic congress, doesn't mean that it will happen. It is all about the indiviudal races.

13. Does this take into accunt gerrymandered congressional districts?
Don't want to throw a wet blanket on good news but alot of districts are never ever going to elect a Democrat.

14. I'm sure the Republicans will...
...simply let the democrats win back the senate and congress. I'm sure they'll make no use of those rigged voting machines. These polls are just there to give us hope then have it crushed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Republicans won even more seats. Either they'll cheat or something will happen like another terruh attack and the sheep will go running back into the arms of the right. /depression off

15. Good news...
However, we shouldn't give up the fight. We have to build on the current momentum. Right now the bumbling GOP is our best ally.
