"Liberation of Iraqi people" is a slap in the face of Congress - at best

Well lookie here. Have we forgotten why we went to war with Iraq?
Lately it's been "to liberate the Iraqi people from a ruthless dictator", or "to give freedom and democracy to the people of Iraq." Very lofty, noble words... something everybody can hang their hat on to. But wait! What did the Congress specifically authorized the resident to do? The "Joint Resolution to Authorize the use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq" of Oct 11, 2002 says:

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

(a) AUTHORIZATION- The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to --

(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.

Freedom and liberty of the Iraqi people isn't there! Somehow, Bush* forgot to put in THE noble cause in the request to Congress. Of course, had he done that, there would be no resolution. Liar, liar, liar!
