WHAT REPUBLICANS BELIEVE
WHAT REPUBLICANS BELIEVE
by Larry S. Rolirad

Republicans believe that Bush is a compassionate conservative. If Bush was really compassionate then why did he fail to meet with the distraught mother of a son who was killed in Iraq? And if Bush was compassionate then why did he choose to fly to California during the first days of the tragedy in Louisiana and Mississippi to go to a lavish republican fundraiser where Bush met with millionaires and billionaires to rake in money for his political party? If Bush had any compassion, if Bush was a man, if Bush was a human being then he would have demanded that those millionaires and billionaires donate their money to the victims of Katrina instead of filling the already overflowing republican party coffers? It is obvious to any sane person that Bush has absolutely zero compassion or empathy for any other human being on earth.

Republicans believe that Bush did everything perfectly during the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Republicans must believe that Bush playing golf the day after flying over the devastated New Orleans is acceptable behavior of a leader. And remember, Bush just ended his five week long vacation playing on his ranch when Hurricane Katrina struck. Apparently Bush wasn't rested enough to do his job even with five weeks off. He had to go and play golf and then attend a lavishly posh republican fundraiser where he mingled with millionaires and billionaires. Why didn't Bush ask those extremely wealthy republican to donate a cent to help the victims of Katrina? It was obvious that Bush was more concerned with filling the republican war chest with money than giving a dime to help the hundreds of thousands of homeless, the sick and the dying. At another lavish dinner with republicans last year he called millionaires and billionaires his "base". According to Bush, anyone who isn't extremely wealthy is not worth worrying over. That was made evident during the aftermath of Katrina when Bush totally ignored all of the victims because, after all, they were all poor.

Republicans believe that the government should spend hundreds of millions on propaganda to dupe, deceive, and to instill fear into Americans. Republicans believe all of the propaganda that comes from Bush, Cheney and the rest of the neocons in the Bush Regime.

Republicans believe in having republican president appoint extremist reich wing republican justices who will overturn Roe v Wade. Republicans say it will prevent the deaths of millions of fetuses. What republicans don't tell you is that they will do nothing to help those children or their mothers. "Screw the mothers and their children" republicans say. Republicans call them deadbeats and welfare frauds. Republicans 'claim' to have compassion for the unborn, but they have zero compassion for anyone living.

Republicans claim to be "Christians" and that is their reason for wanting to 'save' those unborn, even if the birth ended up killing the mother. And republicans don't give a damn if a woman was raped. They want her to be forced to bear a child of a rapist. What if their daughters were raped? What is Laura Bush was raped? Do you think that Bush would force Laura to bear a rapist's child? Not on your life. And what if the drunken Bush daughters were raped? Do you really believe that GW Bush would have his children bear a rapist's child? These questions are not out of bounds. During the 1988 election Michael Dukakis was asked by Bernard Shaw what he would do if his wife Kittie Dukakis was raped and murdered. A similar question should be asked of GW Bush to find out just how "Christian" he really is, and if he really does believe that the termination of a fetus is murder.

Republicans believe they are "Christians" but they couldn't care less about the born and the living. Republicans love to kill innocent people in foreign wars, but they call themselves "Christians". Republicans love to send our troops to die in a country which posed no threat to the United States, but they still call themselves "Christians". Republicans love to ignore the health and welfare of any poor person to the point of letting them die, but they call themselves "Christians". Frankly, I am sick of "Christians". "Christianity" is a cancer which has killed more people than all of the diseases in mankind's history. And republican "Christians" are the worst of the lot.

Republicans believed Bush when Bush said he "trusted the people, not the government". Is that why Bush hid behind the government and refused to meet with the mother who lost her only son in Bush's Iraq War? If Bush "trusted the people" then why did he hide on his ranch, cowering in a closet in total fear of meeting with a distraught woman? Why was the most powerful man on the planet terrified to meet with a lone woman?

Republicans believe our southern border with Mexico should be wide open allowing 6000 aliens to swarm across our borders every day. They must believe this because they are doing nothing to stop the invasion. Republicans don't realize that it only took 19 terrorists to cause the massive destruction on 9/11/01. How many terrorists are among those 6000 illegal aliens who are invading our country every day? How can any person say that Bush has the moral authority to send one more soldier to his death in Iraq when our military should be ordered to our southern border to defend the United States against a REAL threat???

Republicans believe our national debt should be at astronomical amounts so that the debt will have to be paid for by our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Republicans believe we should never balance our budget. After all, never once did Reagan, Bush-duh-First, or Bush-duh-Second submit a balanced budget to congress. NOT ONCE in their combined 17 years!

Republicans believe our national deficit should be unlimited so that our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will have to pay off the debt.

Republicans believe that we should spend unlimited amounts of money on the military without considering if any of that money is actually used to add to the defense of the United States. In one appropriations bill, Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott added billions of dollars of republican pork for battleships, aircraft, and military buildings that the Pentagon did not request, did not want, and did not need. And republicans "claim" to be for smaller government and against government waste. Republicans are victims of their own parties lying propaganda.

Republicans believe that There are at least 25,389 HumVees in Iraq. Republicans gave the company which makes HumVees billions of dollars and republicans don't give a damn that those HumVees offered no protection to the troops who had to ride in them in hostile environments. Hundreds of American troops have been killed or hideously injured in inadequately fortified equipment, while the executives in the O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt, a subsidiary of Armor Holdings company are all sitting in air conditioned offices making billions. They all should be tried for murder. The inept and criminal Donald Rumsfeld only justification for sending our troops to battle without adequate protect is this: "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.'' Can any republican with any integrity or honesty say to themselves what they would have done if someone in the Clinton administration had said something so stupid, so idiotic, and so treasonous?

Republicans believe that Bush regards our fallen soldiers as having performed a noble cause by dying in Iraq. But if that is true then why did Bush order all of our returning dead soldiers to be brought home in the dead of night so that the press or even the victim's families couldn't be there while the flag-drapped coffins were unloaded from military aircraft? Bush won't even allow those thousands of flag-drapped coffins to be photographed. Why is Bush so ashamed of our returned dead soldiers?

Republicans say that they believe that government should be 'local' but when the recounts were being conducted in Florida in 2000 they ran to the republican dominated supreme court to stop a state from counting their votes. So much for their claim that local government should prevail over national government.

Republicans say they believe there are too many trial lawyers and too many suits but when it was apparent that Bush was going to lose the 2000 election, if votes were counted properly, the republican party hired every trial lawyer they could to stop the counting of votes in Florida.

Republicans believe we should attack sovereign nations which posed no threat to the United States or Americans. Iraq posed no threat to the United States. Never once did Saddam Hussein threaten the United States. Never once did Iraq threaten any American. But republicans were brainwashed into believing that Saddam Hussein was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks even though there is absolutely zero truth to that.

Republicans believe that Iraq did pose a threat to the United States but how could Iraq attack us? They had no navy. They had no real air force. Their army was a dysfunctional rag tag outfit. They had no weapons of mass destruction. And Iraq had no missile which could fly more than 500 miles, and that was with almost zero accuracy. So how was Iraq going to attack the United States? Was the Iraqi army going to swim across three oceans and crawl onto our beaches? Anyone who believed that Iraq threatened the United States is a lunatic and a moron.

Republicans believe that we were attacked on 9/11 by Iraqi terrorists even though almost all of the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia. Even Osama bin Laden was a Saudi citizen. And 98 percent of the Saudis admire Osama bin Laden as a hero. To show how little the United States is regarded in the Middle East 99% of the Kuwaitis also believe that Osama bin Laden was a folk hero.

Republicans believe that Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein planned the 9/11 attacks even though Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are arch enemies of each other and would never conspire to do anything together. Osama bin Laden HATED Saddam Hussein because Hussein killed thousands of Muslims, and Osama bin Laden was a Muslim.

Republicans believe that Bush actually wanted to capture and kill Osama bin Laden for his part in the planning of the 9/11 attacks. If that is true then why did Bush make the following statements: "We are not looking for bin Laden, he isn't a priority, he isn't worth thinking about." (GW Bush, January 2004) "We really aren't that concerned about bin Laden." (GW Bush, Fall 2003) "I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him...I truly am not that concerned about him." (GW Bush, Fall 2003)

Republicans believe that Bush brought "honor and dignity" back to the White House. But while our troops were dying in Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction Bush made fun of those troops by crawling around on the Oval Office floor, looking under furniture and behind curtains muttering "I can't find those weapons of mass destruction anywhere". This republican produced video was shown at a 50,000 dollars a plate republican dinner where Bush read from a teleprompter. Bush's making fun of our troops was inexcusable. I wonder how the mothers and fathers of soldiers who were killed looking for weapons of mass destruction felt about Bush making fun of their children's deaths? I am sure they weren't laughing.

Republicans believe that Bush meant it when he said he will do everything it takes to find, capture and kill Osama bin Laden. If that is true then why did Bush fail to take the opportunity to capture Osama when our military intelligence said Osama bin Laden was in the mountains in Tora Bora in Afghanistan?

Republicans believe that Iraq could attack us within a 45 minute period because that is what they were told by the evil and corrupt Bush regime. But republicans are notorious for not thinking beyond a thirty second soundbite. They never thought how Iraq could attack the United States. They blindly believed all of the lies spewing from everyone in the Bush Regime.

Republicans believe that their party is the party of defense. So why was it the republican party which made drastic cuts in the military? Under Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney during Bush-duh-First's presidency the following was cut from the military: 709,000 regular (active duty) personnel, 293,000 reserve troops, eight standing army divisions, 20 air force and navy air wings with 2,000 combat aircraft, 232 strategic bombers, 19 strategic ballistic missile submarines with 3,114 nuclear warhead and 232 missiles, 500 ICBMs with 1,950 warheads, four aircraft carriers and 121 surface combat ships and submarines, plus all of the support bases, shipyears, and logistical assets needed to sustain such a naval force.

Republicans believe that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction even though there was no real proof that Hussein had such weapons. Everyone in the Bush Regime lied about Hussein having weapons of mass destruction. Their lies were so blatant that even Colin Powell lied to the United Nations using as "proof" a student's thesis paper that was written 12 years earlier.

After no WMDs were found the Bush Regime changed the purpose for invading Iraq to a humanitarian purpose. Republicans believed such nonsense even though not one republican voiced any concern for the Iraqi people from 1981 to 2002. Not one!!! Republicans believed that Bush wanted to liberate the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein even though Bush never once in his life said anything about liberating anyone in the world from any dictator. Republicans conveniently forget that Saddam Hussein killed thousands of Kurds while Reagan was president. And Saddam Hussein killed even more Kurds while Bush-duh-First was president. Why did it take republicans so long to find compassion or empathy for the Iraqi people until the Bush Regime changed gears and said we were in Iraq as a libertarian gesture?

Why didn't republicans condemn their republican leaders for not 'liberating' Iraq during the first Gulf War if Saddam Hussein was killing his people? Again, why did it take republicans another twelve years to find compassion for the Iraqi people if they were being murdered under Bush-duh-First's regime? Bush-duh-First told the Iraqi people that if they overthrew Saddam Hussein that he would have supported them. Bush-duh-First lied to them because he left the Iraqi people to be murdered by Saddam Hussein.

Republicans believe that the Iraqis who are attacking our troops are terrorists. Since there were no terrorists in Iraq before Bush's War then it can be said that the people in Iraq attacking our soldiers are not terrorists, but actually Iraqis who were angered by the US attacking their country, killing entire families and destroying their country. I guarantee that if the US was attacked by a foreign military every person with a gun would be shooting at the occupying force.

Republicans believe Bush is a Christian even though Bush has violated every one of the Ten Commandments. Republicans conveniently forget the commandment which states "Thou shalt not kill". And Bush has violated that commandment 1900 times for our troops and tens of thousands of times for the Iraqis and the Afghans he has ordered killed. Republicans believe Bush is a Christian because during a campaign Bush said "Jesus was my favorite philosopher". Bush has never walked in Jesus' footsteps. Bush has never been a real Christian. But illiterate and ignorant republican "Christians" still believe that Bush is a Christian because Bush said that Jesus was his favorite philosopher.

Republicans claim to be "Christians" but they are the only people who call out for the deaths of entire civilizations for the crimes of a few. I hear constant chants from republicans to "Nuke Iraq", or "Kill all the towelheads", "Kill them all and let God sort them out", or "Bomb them back to the stone age". Republicans are the most unChristian people on the planet. None of them adhere to any of the Ten Commandments. They are all fakes, frauds, and fanatics.

Republicans claim to be "Christians" because they listen to and support television religious shows starring the likes of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and James Dobson. These "Christians" called Teletubbies homosexual, prayed for the assassination world leaders, and prayed for the deaths of supreme court justices. So much for being pro-lifers eh? So much for being "Christians".

Republicans believe they are the party of accountability but Bush and everyone in his regime said that "Businesses must be allowed to regulate themselves". If republicans had their way there would be an Enron on every Main Street in America.

Republicans believe that supermarkets can place meat in packages that look good from the top side but the bottoms are filled with fat. That is because republicans are opposed to any regulation against any business.

Republicans believe that chicken, ham, beef, processed foods, and just about everything else sold in supermarkets should be injected with up to 15% water so the consumer is paying $10 a pound for water. After all, to stop businesses from selling water for $10 pound would be considered detrimental to "good capitalism".

Republicans believe that credit card companies should be able to charge unlimited amounts for finance charges. Today's finance charges exceed 39% for some credit card companies. It used to be against the law for a corporation to charge more than 15% interest, but no longer. After all, to restrict a corporation from charging any interest rate they want would be against "good capitalism".

Republicans believe that credit card companies should be able to charge any amount for late fees and overlimit fees no matter how unreasonable they are. To republicans if a person inadvertently pays a penny less than the amount due they will be charged a $35 dollar late fee and outrageous finance charges for the entire bill.

Republicans believe that utility companies should be able to charge as much as they can because they believe there should be no regulations on businesses. After all, price gouging is a hallmark of "good capitalism".

Republicans believe that product packages should be five times larger than the contents because it is also "capitalism" at its best. So what if the consumers are getting screwed? Republicans believe deception should be rewarded by corporations. After all, it is "good capitalism" to charge consumers for something they aren't getting.

Republicans believe that there should be no limits on advertising on television. Before Ronald Reagan became president infomercials were illegal. Now the airwaves are filled with nonstop infomercials. Most people don't remember that cable companies were allowed to come into existence because they were supposed to offer commercial free programming. Then after they became entrenched in American cities they began to advertise with a vengeance.

Republicans believed that telemarketers should be allowed to call at any time, day and night. The repeublican state of Texas still charges citizens to be put on a do-not-call list. Instead of forcing telemarketers to bear the expense of maintaining a do-not-call registry republican congressmen and senators put the burden on the citizens because they do not believe that there should be any regulations on businesses. I called every republican office holder in the state of Texas before there was a national do-not-call registry and every republican was opposed to restricting telemarketers because they said they hired people. That was a lie. Most telemarketers aren't even in the United States. Most pay slave wages to people oversees to make their calls. But most telemarketers just use huge rooms full of computers which made calls non-stop, 24 hours a day. Telemarketers who call your home is no different than a person throwing a rock through your window with a note wrapped around it. It is an intrusion into your life. A home should be a refuge against such intrusions. Republicans claim to be the family values party but telemarketers destroyed billions of very personal family moments like sharing dinner together, praying together, and having other very intimate moments together.

Republicans believe that there should be unlimited millions of money spent by pharmaceutical companies on advertisements and nothing on research because it is "good capitalism". Most people don't realize that pharmaceutical companies spend much more on advertisements than they do on research. So much for the sick and dying in our country.

Republicans do not believe that if a drug kills you or someone you love you should be able to sue the offending drug company. In Texas, GW Bush put a cap on the amount of money you could sue a doctor or a pharmaceutical company at a paltry $25,000 regardless of how hideously you were injured or killed by negligence. That is because Bush sold out the citizens of Texas to big business. So much for all of the responsibility and accountability that republicans like to talk about. Republicans do not want any business to be forced to be responsible or accountable for their actions.

Republicans believe that corporations should be allowed to pollute at will. Republicans believe there should be no restrictions on a company's ability to pollute the air, land and water. In Texas under GW Bush, Texas became number one in the nation in air, land and water pollution. That is because Bush handed out 830 exemptions to the worse polluters in the state because they bought his two elections. Because of Bush's actions against the people of Texas tens of thousands of human beings with respiratory problems died from polluted air. I suppose that was when Bush was still developing his "compassionate conservatism".

Republicans believe that companies can blatantly lie in all of their advertisements because they don't believe there should be any regulations on businesses. Ninety-nine percent of advertisements on television and radio never live up to the advertised claims. But that doesn't matter to republicans because it is "good capitalism".

Republicans believe they are the party of fiscal responsibility but republican presidents have never proposed a balanced budget in more than 68 years. Republicans blamed a democratically controlled congress through the 1980s through the 1990s but not one republican president proposed one balanced budget. In Reagan's eight years he never once proposed a balanced budget. In Bush-duh-First's four years he never once proposed a balanced budget. And in Bush-duh-Second's five years he has never once proposed a balanced budget. So how can republicans blame the democrats in congress? After all, the financial buck stops at the president's desk and he can veto any appropriations bill. Not one republican president ever vetoed an appropriations bill. It took the courage of President Clinton to finally balance our budget. Twice, President Clinton threatened to veto an appropriations bill unless massive amounts of republican pork were removed from the bill. But even if the face of reality republicans still blame democrats. It is apparent that republicans are incapable of accepting responsibility or be accountable for their actions.

Republicans believed that President Carter was responsible for the rising gas prices in the late 1970s. But it has been proven that it wasn't President Carter's fault but rather the fault of the corrupt oil corporations who conspired to raise the price of gasoline to gouge the citizenry. There was no gasoline shortage. It was a complete fabrication. Where are those same republicans who blamed President Carter for the high price of gas since the price of gas today is now FIVE times greater than it was under President Carter? Why aren't republicans denouncing Bush for allowing the price of gas to reach astronomical heights? And why aren't republicans denouncing the oil corporations who are making obscenely high profits by gouging Americans? Oil companies have been gouging the American people under Bush and Cheney. The stock prices of American oil companies have gone through the roof since Bush unilaterally declared war on Iraq. Shell Oil's stock prices have increased 461%. Chevron increased 205%. Exxon/Mobil increased 215%. Marathon increased 331%. British Energy increased 966%. Abraxas increased 846%. Anadarko increased 243%. Sunoco increased 565%. Conoco increased 305%. BP/Phillips increased 196%. Hess increased 325%. British Petroleum increased 1,685%. Murphy USA increased 350%. And Cheney's republican corporation Halliburton increased a whopping 740%. Having a corrupt stooge in government to funnel billions from our treasury in no-bid contracts is very profitable indeed.

Republicans believe that black people are inferior. And since republicans believe in strict constuctionism they would have opposed the amendment changing the worth of a black man from 3/5ths of a person to a whole person. And also since republicans do not believe that justices should 'legislate' from the bench women would still not be allowed to vote, blacks would not be allowed to vote, there would be no Miranda rights for suspects, and on and on. In other words, republicans believe that America should never progress. They believe that the constitution is a dead instrument of government and that it should never change to make life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness available to everyone in America. Republicans believe that only white men should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Republicans believe that the only ones who should be allowed to own land and to vote are white men.

Republicans believe that Hispanic people are inferior but they perplexingly do not want to stop the flow of illegal aliens streaming across our southern border. If they did believe we should close our border then they would be demanding that Bush withdraw all of our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and deploy them on the border with Mexico. Since republicans are not demanding that Bush do his job to preserve and protect the United States and its citizens it can be said that republicans condone a president who violates his oath of office by performing treasonous acts.

Republicans believe Hispanics, blacks, and native Americans are inferior but our military is made up of a proportionally high number of such minorities. Look at the casualty list from Iraq if you don't believe who is sacrificing the most to defend American corporations there. Republicans obviously believe that minorities should die for our country in corporate wars, but not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of our land.

Republicans believe in a lot of things which are so out of touch with reality that their sanity must be questioned. Either republicans are the most illiterate, uneducated, and unintelligent people on the planet or they are the most gullible. From their beliefs it seems obvious that republicans are all of the above. Republicans are certainly not patriotic and that is evident by their blind support of their political party's interest over the best interests of the United States and Americans.

Thomas Jefferson said the greatest threat to the United States was an uneducated and illiterate populace. Unfortunately, our country has become a country of morons. How else can it be explained why Bush managed to get more votes in last year's election than a truly qualified and intelligent person like Senator John Kerry? Our uneducated and illiterate populace undoubtedly identified with Bush, a person who can't read, write, or speak on a third grader's level.

I know that this article lumps all republicans together. But I have found that generalization about them is valid. I listen to republican CSPAN callers, I read republican posts, I watch republican pundits on television, I even occassionally listen to the reich wing republican radio freak shows, I talk with republicans in all walks of life, I listen to Bush, Cheney and the rest of the republican gang in Washington, I even listen to members of my own family which is 90 percent republican. And I have not heard one of them dispute any of the points I made above. Not one. And if a republican does not believe in something and says nothing while they continue to support and vote for republicans then I can wrap them all up in one monolithic entity with confidence.

When a person knows better but says nothing they are just as guilty as the person who commits a crime. When Bush unilaterally declared war against a country which posed no threat to the United States he was supported 100% by repubicans. Because Bush murdered 1900 of our troops and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis then all of those republicans who blindly supported him without thought are equally guilty of killing every one of those human beings. It is called personal responsiblity and being accountable. And republicans have no idea what being responsible or being accountable means.

Look at the blame game they are playing over the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They are doing everything they can except personal responsibility for their actions. They are blaming every democrat withing 500 miles of New Orleans and they are doing that to try to deflect the blame from themselves. But they are losing their blame game because the intelligent people in our society know better. The intelligent people in America know that Bush is a liar, a fraud, a dolt, is inept, incompetent, and a murderer.

For Bush to go to a fundraiser to rake in millions while people are drowning in New Orleans is inexcusable. For Bush to play a game of golf while people in Louisiana are homeless, starving, thristy, sick and dying is beyond a real human's comprehension. But republicans continue to blindly cheer him on as if he is a god. That is why I can say that republicans do not think. They do not have the ability to think. They are nothing but propaganda pawns who are being led by corrupt and evil bottomfeeders like Bush, Cheney, Rove, and the rest of their evil ilk. Yes, you can lump all republicans together if they all follow a party line instead of thinking for themselves.

I am an independent and I have never seen such a brain dead population of republicans like we have today. Nixon and Agnew were corrupt and evil but they are saints compared to the low level of this current crop of republicans.

It is my firm belief that if we do not purge our government of these evil and ultra corrupt republican our country is doomed. Republicans look at everything as a damned game. All they care about is their party winning without realizing or caring about the consequences. They NEVER look at what is best for America or Americans. Republicans remind me of the braindead Germans who let Hitler gain power. There is absolutely no difference in the mentality of the 1930s and 1940s Germans and the illiterate, ignorant, and anti-American republicans of today.

Hopefully we will be able to overcome the evilness of the Bush Regime, but I doubt it. There are too many illiterate, ignorant, and brain dead republicans in America. What Thomas Jefferson said about the biggest threat to our country's survival is coming to pass. We do not have a well educated electorate. And Thomas Jefferson said that is the best deterrent to an oppressive, tyrannical, and corrupt government. Without a well educated electorate our country is doomed.

2. Republicans believe that global warming doesn't exist
despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary

but--

they believe in the Star Wars missile defense system without a shred of evidence that it will ever work.
